Many people didn’t fully understand what he said in the interview. He gave the interview in Kazakh, and many translated it incorrectly. He said that he will do whatever the UFC tells him to do - if they tell him to wait for a title shot, he will wait. He himself doesn’t want to take another contender fight, but it all depends on what the UFC says.

He had a title shot, the champ pulled out and he did the ufc a huge favour by fighting injured to save the card. He then told ufc he wasn't ready when belal came back rather than stuffing them round by pulling out last minute, Dana made a point of that and said winner would be fighting shavkat end of year. Does make sense they'd honour that after letting Islam jump him for next fight.

Yea no he's been out too long and hasn't done enough to be able to wait. If Brady, Morales, Usman, or Garry get another win while he's waiting they'd be more deserving. Plus Islam vs JDM could be a banger that warrants an immediate rematch. I like Shavkat but hate this attitude.

Garry beat Prates since then, if he beats Usman, Morales, or Brady before Shavkat comes back he should pass him. It's not like Shavkat blew the doors off him, he almost got finished in the last round.

If Usman beats either of those guys that will be Buckley + another top 10 win since Shavkat fought last. Shavkat's wins over Garry and Geoff Neal isn't enough to take all that time off and expect to come back to a title shot. The division moves on.
