Shavkat Rakhmonov Wants to Wait for UFC Title Shot Next

Nah I can't agree with this. He's been out nearly a year. He should have to win again before getting considered. It's not fair to the guys who are actively working toward a TS right now.

Brady definitely is more impressive with a recent finish over a former champ than Shavkat beating Garry by decision in 2024, one more win for Brady should do it. However what if both Shavkat and Brady win? Like beating Morales and Usman for either guy? I do think you have to factor in Brady's recent loss to Belal if all things are equal.

Yeah it should be. Back in the day if you sat around like this, the UFC chose whoever else made a splash more recently. Guys like Shavkat or Arman were right at their title shot, but division should pass them up if they sit around too long. In Shavkat's case he looks like he lost all his muscle his injury was that bad.

Beat an old gatekeeper, sit out until you get gifted a title shot, win the belt and cherry pick a few opponents, tease moving up in weight, retire early. Very, very sick of the current roster's unwillingness to actually fight

 
I personally feel that he needs to get back in fight shape and if an opportunity arise from it take the fight. Waiting just makes it worse.
 
Unfortunate that Islam is moving up and given the shot since Shavkat matches up incredibly well against JDM.

Does he? If he doesn't get the takedowns JDM could tune him up on the feet. Shavkat's takedowns haven't look great his last 3 fights(3 for 19).

In a different division this would absolutely be the play. At 170 right now?? Bro...you've got killers stacked on top of killers lining up for their shot. This is the WRONG division to play the waiting game in.

Shavkat fought better strikers than JDM did.
 
Seems like this is becoming a normal thing , when someone gets a big win tgey want a title shot and are winning to weigh for it
It’s such a risky play , if Islam & Jdm have a close fight and the ufc thinks they can get a payday on a rematch you could be sitting for a while
 
Shavkat needs a tune up before. Especially coming off an injury that made him have to pull out of his original title shot.
 
It's gonna be Islam vs jack next so maybe he should fight brady to stay relevant and active. He might be left behind if he just waits.
 
I'm sure this will sit well with the UFC. There's half a dozen contenders in your division, they don't need you. Read the room buddy.
