News Sergei Pavlovich vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik | Feb 2025 in Saudi Arabia

Exciting fight, if it goes ahead. Again in Bigi Boy's favour I have to say he is obviously prepared to fight anyone, if they offered him Godzilla he would take the fight. I think Pav runs right through him though, slick (T)KO within two rounds and gets things back on track.

It's better to give him a winnable fight now, Volkov fight was a terrible look.

Ufc likely only wants one heavyweight Russian to promote so they made them fight to see who would get the push lol

Either Sergei blitzes him in the 1st minute or Rozenstruik picks his way to a boring as fuck decision. I think, and hope, the former.

This is either guaranteed ko or the most boring fight ever.

Ask me this a year or two ago and I would have told you that Pavlovich flies across the Octagon and swarms Rozenstruik before TKO'ing him in Round 1. I still think there's a chance of that happening, as Volkov and Ngannou were both capable of encroaching on Bigi Boy's space, making him uncomfortable, and tagging him with shots he couldn't recover from. Sergei has terrifying early pressure and could easily do the same with his output, hand speed, and power.

But Jairzinho is not the victim people make him out to be. If there's one thing he's decent at, it's moving around on the back foot and playing the sniper/counter-striker. His timing is underrated and unlike Sergei he has shown legitimate one-shot touch of death power in his hands and kicks, even on jabs or grazing blows. I should also note that in his last two bouts -- both of which were against heavy-handed brawlers who like to march their opponent down and make it ugly -- Rozenstruik showed a new aspect to his game. He traded singular kill shots for volume in the form of an active jab & kicking game to pick both men apart in a very educated fashion -- always one step ahead with his footwork and shot selection on the outside. Given the way Pavlovich got embarrassed by Volkov who did the same exact thing to him and Sergei seemed incapable of closing the distance and cutting off the cage... it's not impossible to imagine Rozenstruik could repeat that feat.

I could see Pavlovich being the rightful favorite just due to his former hype and level of competition, but stylistically speaking Rozenstruik has multiple ways to win this. I wonder if Pavlovich will flex his wrestling.

Pav could use a step down in competition after his last couple of fights, and this should be a good win for him. Unless he has become gun shy and such after two straight losses

Very winnable fight for Biggie Boy. If Biggie boy fights intelligently and can survive Pav's early pressure I can see him winning. Pav isn't all that intelligent of a striker and is quite limited in that department, Volkov and Tom exposed that. If Pav's normal game plan doesn't work he doesn't really know what to do.

Damn, I duno. Pav should win, but no way id put money on a fight like this. Maybe if either we're +600

Before the Volkov fight I would have been 100% on Pav. Still think he's the favorite here.
And of course it's Rozenstruick headlining a fight night lol. I think he holds the record now.

I'm reminded of Ngannou after the first Stipe fight and Black Beast.

He had to decide to either get back to what put him on the map, or become a has-been in the sport without ever leaving his mark. Just another fighter that went on a winning streak until it became a losing streak.

Pav has the same decision to make.
The surprising thing is his stock didn't lower after the Aspinall fight. He got caught and it happens.
But against Volkov, which should have put him back on the map, he looked like he didn't want to be in there. His stock lowered dramatically. That was his Ngannou VS Black Beast.

I really hope Pav makes the right decision to get his head back in the game.
