Serena Williams cries "discrimination" over drug testing

We have a few indoor courts around where I live that are nice. I played a couple of times a week last winter and plan on doing the same this winter. Turns into a pretty good winter sport!

I'm a one handed back hander also. Tried the double and it didn't feel right at all. My backhand slice I'd say is one of my best shots and everything else is still a work in progress. Forehand is getting there but not much top spin on it.

Yeah you should get back into it. I ran into a guy who also played alot growing up then stopped, and is now playing all the time (like 4 days a week) and has turned into a nut. You could be that guy!

Work on changing that grip on your forehand. The semi-western is what you're looking for. Imagine the racquet rolling over the tennis ball. You'll start to pick up that top spin but the grip is everything. I always visualized it. It's not a flat shot but a rolling over the ball type shot.

Funny you say that becasue I had a great slice backhand. I think mostly becasue I wasn't great at the backhand and I used the slice as a lazy mans way of returning the ground strokes on that side.

The double feels so gross and I could never get into it.

I’d say Brady’s more cheat than brat. But truthfully I do think that Serena’s had to deal with her share of racism and sexism over the years. Last few years she’s had a dream run from the media tho but she continues to act in a bratty, cringeworthy way and gets passes for it.

Didn't he storm off the field last Super Bowl. I'm certain he did.

I kinda view Serena like tiger woods. They def had to overcome racism in their sports.

Also, just so we're clear, I would advise her to stop acting that way if I was part of her team. You can get angry and make a stand but you can't blow up all the time or make that a growing trend. It's a bad look, especially in tennis. I don't disagree with that one bit.

I think some people are taking what I said the wrong way.

mens tennis has always been less sexist towards the men than their female counterparts.

I don't think the judge made a decision based off of racism but I think a lot of the posters here are doing just that. I know you understand what I mean as well.

It's a very fake outrage by a select few people. Heck i don't think I would lump you into that category if you criticized her outburst. You just have a more reasonable stance on certain things like this.
Sexism in tennis has nothing to do with why Serena was docked a point, and it has nothing to do with why McEnroe was given unique slack that other male stars were never afforded (it was because people adored him, it drew views, and made everyone more money).

It's quite brilliant. Why let society hold you responsible for your actions? Brand yourself a victim, and voila! We're spending pages talking about fucking McEnroe instead of the fact that Serena's coach was openly violating the rules, and Serena's reaction when she was held accountable for this. If "she's not a cheater", she should be livid with her coach, not the ref.

McEnroe isn't the norm, isn't all men, isn't a stat spread; furthermore, importuning for trial by proxy (especially an exceptionalist, historical one) is a ridiculous logical defense. Yet look! It has an audience! It has already steered the conversation away from Serena's petulant misbehavior. People are suiting up as knights for poor little Serena. It's a farce. So I don't find the people upset at her to be the problem.

The problem is the astonishing lack of education that got us to a place where people fall for this crap, and ironically do so by perceiving themselves as enlightened. The war against bigotry has been appropriated by groups and individuals with varying self-interested agendas intent on other goals that has nothing to do with ending bigotry, and in fact, is simply breeding a new generation of bigots. The latter prejudge everything according to race and gender theories which excuse any crimes against those perceived as "oppressed". They do not possess the education or cleverness to separate when that is real from when that is not.

I chose Serena to demonstrate this effect, and I chose quite wisely, indeed.

Her coach is a glory hogging ego maniac who spends more time in front of the camera than coaching Serena, she should have fired him long before now. During Wimbledon she basically had to tell him to STFU and stop jumping in front of the camera's, not to mention he's known for some time now that her nerves are getting the better of her more and more often in big matches and has nothing to address that problem.

As for the coaching he had no business doing it but it's done by every coach that I have seen, during a match in the previous round Sloane Stephens last years USO champ she was being coached the entire match and her coach didn't even bother to hide what he was doing. She lost the match anyway. Serena knows how common it is and imo that's why she blew a gasket for what she viewed as being singled out but the better thing for her to do would have been take the warning in stride and turned her focus to the woman on the other side of the net. If she did that she still could have won the match.

I Made my point very clear earlier on so I don't want to beat it into a living death.

Yup that's what I have been experimenting with a bit recently with changing my forehand grip. It's definitely what I need to do I think it's just a matter of forcing myself to adjust and keep at it.

Haha yeah I think that is also why I have developed the good backhand slice. I'm now forcing myself not to use it just to try to shore up my regular backhand swing, but if I get in trouble it's my go-to.

That slice slows the ball down again and can help you get back in position. It is habit forming though. I always found the hardest backhand shot was a down the line shot. Cross court is a breeze but angling the ball down the line was extremely hard to get right. Lots of finesse

The reason a semi western is such a great grip because you can still hit the ball extremely hard just with top spin. It's not a flat shot at all. Once the ball hits your opponents side it basically shoots up and out at him.

Honestly if you get that down you'll crush people at the club with that shot. My forehand was pretty massive shot when I played but nonting like how the pros hit the ball. It's insane how hard they hit the ball.

At the club I played there was a Spanish instructor who was on the pro tour and played in college. He was so much better than me and he wasn't even close to being a top 100 player. Not even close. I would hit with him all the time, I would take points too but really he was on another level. It was quite frustrating.

I thought she was gonna go after that little chinese woman. I'll find a clip and post it here.

lmao, Serena not wanting to lose on the court so she threatens to murder a small Chinese woman.

They all get coached during the game. Rafa and his coach are notorious for it. That first penalty was complete BS. Serena is not known for getting coached on the sideline much at all during her matches so she was probably extra pissed cause it’s an unspoken broken rule everyone is abusing way more than her but she actually got penalized for it...

And then penalizing her for smashing her racquet.. meh.. I’ve seen that enough times and it’s sometime penalized and other times not. In this case ref should have stayed out of it. It directly affected the match. Another BS call...

Serena is definitely on the roids.

Remember that time she hid from a tester in her panic room?

Pepperidge farms remembers

Serena likes to bully people it seems.

I doubt there's a lot of tennis fans in the War Room.

one time in 9th grade we were playing doubles tennis in gym class. We'd grunt like Monica Seles whenever we stroked the ball. Anyway, I served and hit my teammate in the back of the leg and he started crying. Lost respect for him, but probably the makes me a tennis expert.

Lars was a top ranked tennis player in sweden

I've been getting into it in the last couple of years and play recreationally. Great sport. Been trying to figure out the kick serve which is proving elusive. You're lucky to have had access to facilities and trainers at a young age.

IDL = I don't lob.

I'll be honest, this train going around Social Media about her being the GOAT over Messi is starting to drive me crazy.
