Its an interesting matchup. Spence can box with the best of them (watch the clinic he put on Mikey Garcia when everyone said all he could do is use size and power. He used nothing but technical boxing abilities) but he prefers to be in a fight. Bud is the more polished of the technical boxers but he has a very mean streak and killer instinct which is rare for his style.
Spence usually will happily eat a punch to deliver a punch but with Crawford being a sniper with his counters that is not a great tactic here. Crawford tends to make his opponent fight his fight, but that isnt going to work with Spence. Spence is coming to kill him, and I would bet the house that Spence is going to sell out entirely to break Crawford’s mid section to slow him down and take away his pinpoint precision.
Even though hes a homer for his boys, our mans RR is extremely confident that Spence is going to work him over. Supposedly hes been murdering the twins and everyone in the gym leading up to this one. Hopefully he doesnt let emotions get the best of him because Crawford is a fucking killer when the opening presents itself.
Bit of a travesty how under the radar this is going. It is, on paper, an unbelievably better matchup than Money/Pac, Golovkin/Canelo etc. These two are the best of the best and come to fight every outing. Its increasingly rare to have guys that can box as well as they do but yet still look to stop their opponents. Most are content to point fight and win decisions. These dudes hate each other and this is a legacy defining moment for them both.
Then he'll fight more subpar challengers and ride off into the sunset for 5 years.
Lastly, it makes me sick that both of these guys are past their primes already. Between Bud’s management and Spence’s car wreck/retina injury, they missed out on their best years physically.
