I never said and anyone who did had a clearly misinformed view. My point is that the 2002, 2006 and 2010 elections as were the ones in the 1990s were recognized by the western world the United States included. In all those elections especially 2002 onward the divisions grew
In the 2010 election this was clearest because anyone who voted for Yanukvocih clearly wanted a pro Russian leader who would play ball with Russia. His platform was not joining Russia but was essentially going along how Belarus does that was evident to anyone who paid attention back then. So in other words becoming like Belarus means remaining legally a country but essentially being no more independent than Scottland or Wales are in the UK and both take orders from London/England. A similar thing exists with Belarus inside of Russia's ''Union State'' economic formation.
The maps below show my point
Also there are predominent Ukrainian speakers who agree with Russia and voted for Yankuvocich.
Also there was a trend in the 2002 election, 2006, and 2010.. Then all of a sudden a coup happens and martial law and then you start seeing regions and population centers that once heavily voted for pro Russian parties now voting for pro Ukrainianian and pro Bandera parties? Do you honestly expect anyone to not be supicious to that?
Well I don't pretend the residents of Kiev like Russia. Most dont they have been brainwashed not to and a ton love Bandera and all that stuff
But the people of the Donbass, a lot of people of Kharkov, and the people of Odessa, Kherson, Zaporzhizhia and a lot of Nykolaiv do like Russia.
See below one of just many showing behind the scenes opinions that mainstream western media is ignoring
Then 2007 below parliment elections. Even more voting for the pro Russian east and south of the country is
The blue '''party of regions''' is a heavily pro Russian party that is NOW illegal thanks to anti democratic zelensky and his Bandera fans banning it
