International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V7

The whole war is based on a lie (heard that before). The majority of Russian citizens actually believe that Ukrainians is being run by Nazis. You can see videos online of their citizens believing all the lies when questioned.
Poroshenko called the far right "Our National Patriots"

You had the MSM trying rebrand them.

Those people are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have more sympathy though for the ones that are Ukrainian and love their country but don't want to be pushed off their land.

I get that some are ethnically Russian and would prefer Russian leadership but they are the minority in the country and can't just annex land. It seems a bit similar to a CHAZ scenario if they had backing from Canada. Nobody here would be OK with that.

Oh I just mean even pro Ukrainians have every reason to get the Russian passport. I'd have both and cheer whoever is in control for the sake of your family. Can't imagine plenty aren't doing that. Oh look the Ukrainians are here. Ukrainian passport. Oh it's Russians . Russian passport.

I get your point tho but thousands of civilians are getting fucked over by both sides. I feel for all the innocents regardless their ethnic roots.

Shells don't differentiate sadly

It's time for the UN to act and send in troops and air support.
Ukraine isn't innocent in this conflict either.

Its a fair game when Ukraine is shelling civilians while using provided weapons from NATO countries.
Than blaming it on Russia.

Crook zelesky turn into a billionaire in just a few years as president... maybe hell surpass elon as the first trillionaire with all the western money

A large portion of the Ukranian Military are actual Nazis, lol. You have to be deep, deep in a bubble of Left Wing Propaganda to not be aware of that.

What's your honest thoughts on that?

I love it. For me, as a NATO skeptic this is like balsam to my soul.

Good to see our government preparing for the worst case scenario.

The NATO summit probably didn't go as well as expected for us, lol

Might be breaching human rights and all that shit

But for small countries its only way to have any defence

Oh I completely understand it... I don't like it though. But not my fight <Fedor23>

Just read on the news that even those citizens who are living abroad will be required to complete conscription.

I'm wondering how they'll enforce this

Also they are considering to make it mandatory for women as well. Only thing stopping them is lack of funding.

Nobody escapes.

IIRC used to be like that in most Nordic countries.
I had several friends who went home to do the service back when.
It was that or a few months in jail or do none military service.

Its not like the police / military will go after you trying to find you.
So the enforcement was not very strict and since there are no passport requirements between the Nordic countries no problem really.

But yeah on papper you could end up in jail / or forced to do military service going back visiting grandma

From the little i understand (i'm absolutely not an expert) boost numbers with random guys may be useful to do relatively "easier" stuff so you can use the true expert soldiers where actually you need them, and you have a reserve bit more trained compared to just give a rifle to the bakery guy and tell him you're a soldier now... or better, it's exactly what you do, but bakery guy at least got 1 year of training
Plus Lituania have very small population, number of actual professional soldier probably guess is'nt that big

If Lituania get attacked no way west does'nt enter the conflict
They're NATO + They're EU + if russians manage to conquer a stripe of land that link Belarus with the small piece of Russia (one at south-west of Lituania) they would isolate Lituania, Latvia and Estonia from the rest of Europe and would be bad for 99 other reasons

So i guess idea behind mandatory service is that tech toys and special troops will be given for free by the western allies, but -if needed- the big number of footsoldiers thing will still be up to the locals

On "bright" side i really doubt atm current Russia is able to open another, even more complex front while they're still struggling to get out of Ukraine (as long Putin is king, they can't leave if they don't win something that justify what they lost in this war) and tbh that situation i doubt is going to end soon, specially considering that russian army on ukranian soil even conquering nothing definitive still prevent the west to do some steps to incorporate Ukraine, keeping it to some extent the buffer zone (an heavy price one) russians want between themselves and NATO

So if Russia is busy in Ukraine, maybe Lituania is simply thinking not much about today, but just further aknowledge that if in future shit hit the fan, they would be one of the logical first targets
And if shit reach the point Russia is ok to attack a NATO nation it mean it's a very large scale shit (WW3) and in such scenario is possible other allies are busy themselves and can't help till the day they win shit at their home

That's my 2cents, but again i have zero military knowledge
If they invade a NATO country it will have to be behind the threat of nukes. Because without nukes the west curbstomps russia in a week.
