Ukraine did this to force Russia to take troops away from the Eastern front or mobilize more conscripts. An either or situation.

Ukraine had to be more aggressive because the US election is unpredictable and if Trump wins, he'll just withdraw US aid from them. Trump is Putin's bitch and just recently congratulated him on the recent prisoner exchange.

Ukraine is also not confident that Kamala Harris would be supportive. So they had to do something to change the narrative. Pretty sure this incursion into Russia had the Biden administration's approval.

Ukraine's fate rests in the unpredictable hands of the US election. Russia is biding it's time until then.

Whatever Trump thought he might have organised (presumably the removal of US support and telling Ukraine to surrender territory) to end the war "in one day" is no longer on the table if Ukraine has occupied Russian territory.
Fighting on Russian territory also changes which civilian population will be paying the largest toll, and the support for the ongoing conflict.
Although you shouldn't underestimate the potential for a "fuck you" response, I'd be surprised if Russia still has the stomach for a scorched earth policy.

Russia will not be able to use their main battle technique of bombs ,missiles and artillery then move forward with meat waves over and over for minimal gains with big costs. Now the shoe is on the other foot and like you said doing the scorched earth thing would have obvious negative effects.

Soo some new info i heard from other side of fence why ukr breached so easily. Border was manned by conscripts doing their service in border guard

Basically in rus you can complete your conscript service in border guard if you get chosen.

Conscripts are not used in this conflict on ukrainian soil but border guard is exception in a sense it seems since they are on russian soil even if area is basically active warzone

So once again genius command by rus putting 19 year old conscripts who just want to gtfo back to civilian life in warzone border.

Ukr attacks, kids have no desire to die "heroically" (might have been different with airbourne conscripts lol) chechens in national guard shit themself behind kids as well and here we are

Although there's a shitton of fog of war atm, i dont think they've managed to advance an additional 25 kms today without anything to verify it

Not sure if I read it on here but the conscripts were also glad to surrender due to the treatment form the Tic Toc brigade who were raping them and treating them very badly.

It was one video of single conscript from what i saw, havent personally heard anything else

I feel it was just few chechens getting together to bully single young kid and filming it of course (they always love to film shit like this for media hype to show how "superior" they are) would fit their style of doing things , they have done similar shit to youtubers and so forth in regular world
