International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V15

Rubicon isn't wunderwaffe..
It is approx 500-600 guys unit used by russia for drones..

These are technically educated pros.
Approx like magyar birds for ukr.

They does have decent supplies with different drones.

However their main advantage is that they does have a lot of drones using fiber optic cables... ....

So Ukraine to receive back Kherson and Zaporizhia areas. I think that's a grand deal for Ukraine. Cut off cancer tissues (Crimea and Donbas) and heavily, military reinforce rest of the country. Demiliarized zone, minefields, moats with sharks. Sounds like no-brainer to me.

Where does it say that about Russia?
Russia would end offensive operations in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. The report noted that it is unclear whether Moscow would give up any land it currently occupies. It would most likely not. Ukraine would have to remove troops from the eastern Ukrainian regions of Luhansk and Donetsk.

Russia would clearly have to keep territory it has and territory it wants. That is the original Putin goal. Anything short of that would be negated.
Ukraine has a lot more to lose, and I don't know that Zelensky will accept this deal. Even if he doesn't, Ukraine has already lost this conflict. Ukraine from 2014 and 2022 will never go back to existence.

Well if they don't then it's not a real peace plan, it's yet another purposeful prolongation of war.

That is the original Kellog plan. Anything short of that really shouldn't be even a topic of discussion.

Exactly.

I've said it a long time ago that the only plan that has any chance to succeed is for Russia to keep Donbas and Crimea while returning Zaporizhia and Kherson territories. I thought Ukraine must also be allowed to join NATO but if there's some other alternative it could work. It would also probably mean DMZ, mining the hell out of the border and arming Ukraine to the teeth although they are doing an excellent job of that themselves with their missile and drone development progress.

Denis said there's currently no talk of Zaporizhia or Kherson only that Russia wants Ukraine to unilaterally withdraws from Donetsk. If that's the case then that will go nowhere.

Well that is an understandable russian FIRST MAXIMALIST alternative offered in the negotiations. Similar to Ukraine's "return of all occcupied territories" first offer. Russia keeping Donbass and Crimea internationally recognized and Ukraine getting back physical control of Zaporizhia and Kherson is the only long time solution to this war. (The middle point between the two extremes)

I agree neither side is going to get everything they want. but is this even enough to make either side stop?

Zelensky is already saying they wont give up any land. Trump is obviously cutting off Ukraine from whatever deal he's making with Putin.
I think it wont stop and Trump will blame Zelensky. Ukraine population, in general, wants some deal (by the latest pools)... so maybe there'll be some unrest there, people are tired of being bombed everyday

I'm sure the UKR people want this to end but Russia's terms appear to be unrealistic and I'm sure the UKR people will see through Putins BS as it will lead to more conflict down the road.
Everything Russia does is a lie so UKR has to have security guarantee's to protect them long term against future Russian agreesion.

I think that solution is very practical and it would stop the killing. Chances of it actually working out, minimal around 0.1%. I say if they want to continue to fight, let them bang! Hopefully Ukr can at least get a 30 day ceasefire as a gift from trump talks, they need it badly for reorganization of positions!

BREAKING: Zelensky rejects Trump proposal to swap land with Russia

UK Defence Intelligence reports Russia likely captured up to 550 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory in July
