My incompetence? What about your incompetence? Mr. self-righteous. Plus, all the 'venom' you and others never fail to spew towards other members in this thread. Can't take someone having a difference of opinion. Insults that have nothing to do with the topic, but you just love to throw them around. I know your views mate. We all do. It is like a broken record. To think you were a moderator here on Sherdog at one point.

Thing is, not all opinions are created equal. Some are bad, some are really bad, and some (such as yours re: Ukraine) are spectacularly bad

Yes, you will find lots of posts and videos in this thread about Western tanks being better than Russia T72 or what ever older shit they are using in Ukraine.
No, you will not find lots of posts about how Western tanks are invincible.
YOU made that claim, YOU back it up.
Dont tell people to prove your claims. Back them up your self or dont post them.

Ukr had very low number of modernised tanks like T-84 and modernised T-80....

Majority of Ukr tanks were T-64 and T-72 produced in 1970 ies - 1980 ies...
T-80 produced in 1980 ies....

They ofc had nice PR about upgrades etc however in reality number of tanks deFacto upgraded in 1993 - 2021 th was low....
This too btw is example why there are claims that Ukraine didn't homework 1992-2022 th.
 
Battles tank vs tank in this war were rare.

One reason is because Ukr usually are avoiding direct fight vs russian tanks...
Because they didn't had developed any new APFSDS " dart " cartridge since fall of USSR...
Russia did and their APFSDS ammo does have better characteristics , i.e offers to penterate more armour in longer distance than ammo Ukr had...
 
Despite all these soviet and post soviet era ATGMS usable by tank....

Main tool for plain battle tank vs tank face to face is...APFSDS round.
Cos you might press " trigger button " and immediately start to relocate your tank.

APFSDS round does have " dart " velocity 1400-1880 m/s.
So travel time for 2000 m distance will be short.
+ they doesn't need guidance.

ATGMs does have velocity 200-600, in rare models 660 m/s.
+ they does need guidance....
Travel time for 2000 m distance is relatively long....

* so if you will fire face to face ATGM on tank from 2000 m distance, they will have time to fire on your tank and start to relocate their tank....
+ decoys and active protection like dazzlers and jammers will be launched ....and they does have effect on ATGMS ( depends from model of missile and protection system type ) ....and doesn't have any effect on unguided " dart " like APFSDS ....
 
Yeah, protection systems and missiles are different.

Laser beam detectors are absolutely useless if optical rangefinding and guidance is used. So, welcome to party, it is useless if old type missiles and guidance systems will be used.

Also, IF near tank is some object suitable to use on it rangefinder and guidance beam...
Then operator might decide to " aim " not on tank but on this object and to switch beam on tank in last moment.
To reduce warning alert ON time till....vuala....impact ....
