News Rogan calls out Dana regarding Islam

Dana always does this. Why is this a shocker?

How was he gifted? He was the former champ until he lost to the number 1 and GOAT Khabib. Losing to Khabib doesn’t throw you out the top 10 or even 5.
So he got knocked out by Poirier, choked out by Khabib, and Dustin shattered his leg doctor stoppage.

0-3 LW since 2016

How does that deserve a TS over someone with a ten fight win steak at LW?

lol get real man

Can't wait to hear Dana shit all over Joe now. It'll probably be funnier than all of Joe's comedic material combined.

You said he didn’t deserve to fight Dustin, which he did. He didn’t earn a ts but neither did Yoel or Hendo either.

Islam will fight for the title at some point, that much is obvious but beating Bobby Green on a week or two notice isn't a win that gets you a title fight imo.

People shitting on him for refusing the fight are weird too, I get he said he would but that's just post fight adrenaline you don't fight RDA on such little notice when you're close to a title fight.

“There’s no reason for Islam to take the fight”

Yeah..other than calling for it himself

Really looks like Dana using this as an excuse to take away a TS from a guy on a ten fight winning LW streak blew up in his face and is not going to age well if even Rogan is already questioning the decision.

“So, he’s (White) punishing him (Makhachev) for not doing something stupid? Because that’s not a wise move to fight in the main event (when) you’re right about to fight for the title.

I'm surprised he mustered up the courage to criticize Uncle Dana. Joe is usually a company guy.

Only Dana's inbred fanboys will agree with him. Fuck him and Oliveira if he even thinks of angling for this again. That piece of shit had the worst reign ever. No defences, fights with Nate Diaz and people like Tony and khabib could never get a shot. This sick obsession with him needs to go. He's not elite, never has been, never will be. The sooner people realise that, the better

Islam is being punished for doing something stupid.

If he just kept quiet, Dana was already behind him to get next title shot despite not fighting in the top5, despite winning a fight against someone fighting on 1-week notice to get the shot.

Instead, he decided to play games with the boss... calling out RDA, then backing out after fans wanted it... said no even to 170 so he can't use the weight-cut excuse.

He played himself.

Why was RDA vs Moicano still a 5 round fight? Maybe this is why Islam didn't take it. According to Islam, the UFC sent him the contract late at night and when he saw it he wanted to address a view things but Dana was sleeping lol.

Why do I suspect that the UFC mentioned nothing about the fight being 5 rounds and then tried to pull a fast one by sending the paperwork to Islam late at night.

I think it was as simple as Islam said he would take the fight and didn’t, so Dana was pissed and said “ok, now you have to fight Dariush.”

I will be really surprised if Conor actually comes back straight to a title shot.

this is it. Dana loves when dudes step up and when he said he would and backed out, it pissed Dana off

Conor is 0-3 at LW since 2016

Islam is on a 10 win streak

Should we give BJ Penn a TS for what he accomplished at LW in the early 2000's by your logic?

That's being generous too because BJ >>> Conor and Conor's accomplishments were 99% at FW.
wow

but Islam spoke first

but i said it before
even the original winner wasn't going to get a title shot a year later

The problem is that Dana went on after the fight and said Islam would be next. Dariush knew what was at stake for a main event fight against Islam and he pulled out. Islam still saved that shit card, and fought a tough guy in Bobby Green and dominated the fight within 1 round AS HE SHOULD HAVE. Should Islam of said anything about the RDA fight????????? No, certainly not. However, the UFC offering him something bullshit (assuming, but I'm sure) to take a 5-round co-main fight after loading on weight, just isn't a smart idea for a guy who is behind him in the rankings and wouldn't push him closer to a title shot.

People can say what they want, but Islam should be next in line. It will be Conor if he can come back this year, but imagine Conor vs. Islam should Islam find a way to get the LW title this year.

It's a chaotic mess and mad scramble for the UFC to find a replacement on short notice. For him to mess the UFC around and announce he would take the fight and then not take it, just makes it even harder.

It also robs the actual replacements preparation time too. Islams antics reduced Moicano's preparation time from a possible 6 days down to 4 days.

Islam is not getting punished for not taking the fight on short notice. He is getting punished for public announcing his offer to fight RDA at 170 lbs on short notice, prompting the UFC to contact him and start drawing up the contract, which Islam went along with, until he backed out the next day.

If he had never tweeted the false claim that he would step up and fight RDA, he wouldn't have been punished. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

This

while I agree there was no reason to take the fight, Islam made a big mistake by offering to fight RDA publicly when he had no intention to. Dana and the UFC are looking for any reason to give Conor (or anyone else who sells more) a TS over a currently lesser known fighter.
Let's be honest, Conor is on a downwards projectory and this might be his last chance to be fight for a title without it being so unconscionable that mainstream media bashes them for it (they don't care about fans or what the fighters think). Any Conor fight is the biggest fight they can make, so they'll do everything they can to excuse to get him there, especially when the only blowback comes from forum nerds... Even the mma media doesnt actually care since they can the traffic and the views from a Conor return too.

I can't even blame the UFC for it because if it was my money, or anyone else on this forum's money- we'd all do the exact same thing the UFC is too. Islam isn't going anywhere and best case scenario for him is that Conor wins the title and has to fight him so he can put him over into mainstream stardom the same way he did vs. Khabib. Worst case- Conor loses and raises Olivera/Gaethje's profile and the fight vs islam is even bigger.

With the fucking disaster that Conor's personal life and recovering coming back from a bad injury, there's only so many more huge fights you can squeeze out of him and they're going to do everything they can to get the most mileage out of him, which means- biggest fights possible and putting him in opportunities to build up guys who have a longer future than him and is marketable.

Be mad if you want but unless this isn't a sports league, so of course they're going this until the outcry actually hurts them in their bottom line, but of course everyone is going to buy the fight anyways so why would they.

That's assuming UFC operates based on tweets and social media accounts lmao.

Conor tweets everyday about fighting people, even Tony did the same.
Most fights start from social media call outs and them agreeing online first. They know Conor is still injured and can't fight so his social media call outs won't be focused on until they know he's cleared to fight. The Dustin vs Conor rematch was off a social media call out that they both agreed to.

Social media call outs are open to the public so everyone can see it. If they accept or duck the fight it's there for everyone to see. It's also a direct way of contacting them and calling them out.

It might not be good to have so many fights in quick succession but... If you go to the boss and say "give me this", then they say "sure here you go" and you say "no thanks" then what exactly is he supposed to do? Fuck about and you get fucked about

Islam only has himself to blame, you reap what you tweet.
