Taking elite fighters with no notice to train for that style is risky, having to make the cut again on short notice is hard on the body. Don't blame him not taking it.

Usually fighters stepping up on short notice are looking for a shot at a fighter they normally wouldn't get a chance to fight and a bigger payday than normal. Neither of these are true for islam currently.

And that's his punishment for not taking a risk. You can't pick and choose who you fight.

And there was no cut. They offered it to him at a heavier weight to alleviate that.

Islam has a 10 fight LW winning streak. Conor is 0-3 at LW since 2016.

It's also prize fighting, and a business. Conor brings ppv $, Islam doesn't.

Neither does Gaethje and Conor have top 5 win.

Former champ and former title contender. Much better than zero top wins in an entire career.
