His team probably talked him out of the unnecessary risk when having the title shot lined up or the promotion didn’t make an enticing offer. Dana didn't say Islam "ducked" - he even went on to say that he didn't know the reason why Islam didn't accept the contract (overnight). This, combined with the fact that Islam said Dana wasn't awake to make the deal (ie an adequate UFC rep wasnt available), tells us there was something about the contract that Islam didn't like but he only had until the morning to sign (so he didn't)
