Rockhold Could Retire Right Now and Easily be a Top 2-3 All Time Middleweight

It's kinda funny but true. Anderson GOATed for so long that there have been so few champions in that weight class and generally to be considered an all timer you need to have been champion. I think that there are solid arguments that Okami or Marquardt in their primes were more dominant than Luke or Weidman but it's really hard to make that argument when the latter were/are champs and the former couldn't get past the GOAT, despite their dominance against the rest of the division.

If he beats Weidman again I think he locks a spot up above him but Maia, Machida, AS, and Vitor will always look good. His win over Machida will always look better than Rockhold's.

No. You're wrong. Rockhold has beaten better guys than Shamrock, Franklin, and Weidman.

not even close, he hasn't done anything yet. For example, look at the LHW picture before JJ. It was a revolving door after Liddell. You had Rampage, Forrest, Rashad, Machida, Shogun.

Anderson was the MW Liddell and now that title is in revolving door status. Rockhold needs to do a lot more to show he's not another Forrest or Rashad.

It's his resume as a whole. Dan is natural MW that competed and won(and excelled) at HW and LHW and when his career is over he'll be remembered as a MW.
 
Not yet , he needs to defend the belt a few times first. Yes he does have some impressive wins , but lets see how he does in the rematch with Weidman first . Remember how long the 'Machida era' lasted ? Lets not get carried away . That being said im a huge Rockhold fan and hopes he succeeds
 
It's kind of sad how easily done folks disregard Weidman. It's all good though because he's still my boy.
