I've got a feeling Chimaev gets it done, I'm just not sure how. I'll lean towards 3rd round sub.

I'm still impressed by the Usman and Burns wins and I'm not sure why everyone has done a 180 on Khamzat just because he had the audacity to not steamroll those guys.

He got knocked down by a grossly undersized Burns and completely shut down in grappling. A controversial split decision where you got seriously hurt isn't reasonable described as "not steamrolling."

Usman got off the couch, flew across the globe with zero preparation and went to a nearby decision. Aside from getting back packed for a round, it was a competitive fight and Khamzat again looked like a 1 round fighter. This is the same Usman coming off two losses and a really bad KO.

Now we're talking about Khamzat fighting an actual middleweight who had a fight camp. There is nothing I've seen from Khamzat that makes me think fighting a ranked opponent his own size will help his abysmal cardio or poor striking defense.

Whittaker is past his prime but a huge step up in competition for Khamzat. No doubt Khamzat is an incredible talent but he looks like a solidly top 10 fighter against ranked opponents so far, not a world beater.

After Khamzat beats Whittaker, sherdog better be silent or say he deserves the next title shot. I don't want to hear bullshit of how Whittaker is old and a WW.

You're saying this as though Khamzat has ever solidly beaten a ranked opponent before. So far he's fought two ranked opponents and eeked out decisions. Burns knocked him down, what are we even talking about here?

This will be his first ranked middleweight fight of his UFC career.

Rooting for Chimaev, but I think Whitaker by TKO in round 3 or later.

this is such a great match up! no clue what's gonna happen. I think it'll be close. probably a decision. could go either way. maybe an edge for Whittaker. I dunno. can't wait though

Sensible post.

Against his 2 best opponents Chimaev has definitely underwhelmed in a big way, especially compared to his hype which was off the charts.

Having said that, for a fighter as solid and well rounded as Whittaker is, he is strange and his fights can be unpredictable. He can be beaten surprisingly easily, as we've seen even recently with DDP. So I can absolutely see Whittaker being the favourite, but at the same time wouldn't exactly be shocked if Chimaev steamrolled him.

I don't care about numbers next to names, especially in the UFC in 2024. You have most top guys only fighting within top 5. Khamzat has outgrappled MWs while fighting at WW. I don't think many at MW are going to be as good at BJJ as Burns on their back. Also he broke his wrist for the Usman fight and still won the decision.

Khamzat winning would be better for the division.

Not particularly interested in Rob vs DDP 2 or Rob vs Izzy 3 tbh.

I'm gonna say Rob but I wouldn't be surprised if Khamzat got it done. This is a really hard fight to confidently say who will win.

I could never root for Khamshaft so…
Bobby knuckles by TKO, and Chimmy fades away in the desert to be never seen from again

Huge Whittaker fan but I think he's on the declining side of his career. He can't take those big shots anymore like he did vs Romero. I think the DDP loss was the end of his threat as a championship contender.

There's a decent chance that rat chimaev KO's Whittaker. However, I don't see khamzat dominating in the wrestling department. If he can't KO Whittaker early in rounds 1 or 2, I think Whittaker wins.

We've all said that Khamzat deserves the DDP-Adesanya winner, if he beats Whittaker.

Will be hilarious if Whittaker doesn't show and he gets a last minute replacement so people continue saying he doesn't deserve a title shot

He beat the top 2 WWs. Usman is the 2nd greatest WW of all time. Anyone who can beat either guy is championship level. Usman is also not smaller than khamzat, he’s like an inch shorter and is massive, walks around at over 200lbs. Usman also beat the recent former middleweight champ

Who tf cares that burns knocked him down in a sloppy slug fest. He still beat burns, only reason he didn’t dominate is because he was weary of burns ground game.

Why would Whittaker not show? Whittaker doesn't shy away from any fight my man.

I don't care who they book with Khamzat, I don't expect everything to come together until they are in the ring. He's had a bad string of luck of opponents leaving last minute.
