Robert Whittaker = "A Changed Man" ... for the Worse

Vettori eats 241 total strikes against Cannonier, doesn't get finished or even dropped for that matter. Whittaker doesn't finish him despite soundly outclassing him and hurting him multiple times? He's a point fighter.

Gastelum is known for an iron chin and has never been finished by strikes in 26 fights. Whittaker outstrikes him 169 to 70 but doesn't finish him. He's a point fighter.

Cannonier has never been finished at Middleweight, was knocked down by Bobby who also broke his arm and soundly beat him, but Whittaker didn't get the finish. He's a point fighter.

Till has 23 career fights and has never been finished by strikes at Middleweight. Whittaker beats him, lands more strikes at 100 to 50 and drops him. No finish? He's a point fighter.

Whittaker's last five opponents not named Israel Adesanya have fought 120 times in their careers. They've only been finished by strikes four total times in their careers.

Damn point fighters.

In before complaints about card cost - which you likely don't purchase anyway - and you bringing up gladiators, fights to the death or doing mental gymnastics to hate on fighters who's style or approach you don't like...
Fucking amen

I was gonna make a thread about fighters that get passes and he is a great example of getting a pass for being a decision machine. Don't get me wrong i am a big fan of Bobby but it just makes me laugh when this shit happens like Jones just gets a pass for constant dirty fight he is still da GOAT dur dur

Seems like TS is the one getting castrated now

Honestly when I think back to Whittaker's last few fights I think of absolute masterclasses of striking and brutal headkicks set up with great footwork... I've been seeing more and more people bring up how Whittaker's now a point fighter and it's such a horrible take when you look at anything past Wiki.

I'll take the high road on this one (as i completely disagree with your take) and recommend you should just abandon mma and watch BKFC. Better than half of the fights are finishes and point fighting doesn't exist.

Is this an O'Malley thread?

4 min into R1: Brunson (39) -DuPlessis (29)

LOL, you can abandon my take.

But Whittaker = "a diminished man" as an MMA fighter ...

I've been watching the UFC since UFC I.

"Safety first" ... and "avoiding potential loss" ... is something NO ONE wants to watch.

People want to watch fired-up fighters looking for the kill.

Whittaker has lost this, IMO ...

Rob has many obnoxious fans being from Australia adjacent, who drown any criticism put his way. Hopefully Dircus somehow knocks him out rather than getting point jabbed away.

100%

Context matter.

This is a concept that so many mma fans just can't understand.

Like this guy:

Now thinking this is a troll. Rainbow troll. You go, girl.

Israel Adesanya, possibly the second greatest Middleweight of all-time, didn't finish Vettori, Cannonier, Gastelum or Romero when he fought them, all going to decisions, just like Whittaker.

Yet, he somehow found a way to starch your boy, TS.

He's a damn point fighter.

Word.

Used to be a Whittaker fan, now want to see him lose.

So sick of his "overly-friendly interviews" ... I want to see a killer, trying to kill, when I pay $89 for a PPP event.

I wouldn't give two squirts of piss to see "a friendly exchange" between peers ... followed by "a hug" after a non-combative sparring match.

Pretty sure he will fuck up DDP.
In a 5 rounder DDP would drop automatically. Too much muscle for mw, always throwing with 100%

Bruno Silva has three losses in the UFC, two of them by finish(GM3 and Allen).
Yet Pereira was the only guy who wasn't able to put him away. Does that mean Pereira is a point fighter?

Maybe. Maybe not.

But he sounds and looks really tough in interviews despite being a nice guy, so TS likes him more.

You also forgot to italicize and bold your font with green. Do you know what type of thread we're in?!

I cannot... take your post seriously now.

Yeah, I am a "Bobby Knuckles" fan, or at least I was — but I am actually hoping du Plessis embarrasses Whittaker and sends him back into retirement.

.

So now you're... a hater?

So now you're... a hater?

Not a hater, but no longer a fan.

Anyone who "holds back," after I paid $85 to see them fight, is no longer on my "A" list ...

When I fogging pay my money, I want to see my favorite trying to kill.

When I see he is now "trying NOT TO LOSE" ... I'm wanting to call the local junkyard man, to negotiate where to "bury his remains" ...
