Robert Whittaker = "A Changed Man" ... for the Worse

Whittaker gets overrated here so bad, you would think he's unstoppable the way people talk. I guess what bugs me is he's considered "best striker (*besides izzy) and best TDD". His style was so much better with his blitzes and going in for finish.

I think people will start to fade him when he runs into a decent striker or grappler. I think he's waiting to be steamrolled but MW is pretty garbage rn until more skilled guys rise up.

He gets a lead now and turns on cruise control to decision. Vettori is skillless, Cannonier old, Gastelum/Till find ways to lose to anyone. His recent resume is sort of over hyped. Also he gets props for his TDD for Yoel fights but Yoel isn't the same wrestler he was.
Love this post always said the same.
Not a bad fighter in the least but the way this forum talks about him it’s like he’s a top 5 all time mw or something

I understand where you are coming from but it's not necessarily something Rob can fully control. Getting knocked out can make you gun shy out of instinct.

Do you remember Stipe before getting knocked out by Cormier? His pressure was unparalleled. He moved forward no matter what with his emotionless face. Even against Ngannou, he was willing to get close and brawl with him. But after the knockout? Stipe lost about 15 to 20 pounds and became gun shy. He started overreacting to faints and became more passive.

Whittaker has been in some wars. I’m sure he’s slowed down a little bit.

DDP kind of proved the point. I know when people talked about Whittaker/Khamzat they acted like Yoel couldn't take him down so it would be a nightmare matchup for Khamzat. Yoel hardly wrestles and is more of a power striker now. Wasn't going to rub it in here, but DDP showed Whittaker isn't the unbeatable guy people think he is, he can be controlled on the ground if you're more skilled.

No, because Izzy confiscated his balls ...

Whittaker has been a scared, "cautious" fighter ever since, which he revealed (again) in this fight ... sulling-up at the first sign of adversity.
I’d say wonderboy helped with that
