Road House Remake Discussion Thread Starring Conor McGregor

I actually read the opposite, atleast 3 reviews by movie critics that were positive to Conors performance. The movie overall was mediocre, but Conor got thumbs up, for what the movie is supposed to be, a 2023-24 80s action movie.

Personally im not watching.

Ima watch it tomorrow. Does look legit terrible, especially his performance.
I saw a clip of some fighting too... CGI'd... looks fkn terrible, why tf would you CGI a fkn bar fight.
Well go with low expectations I guess... but a favor please... let us know if it starts off with this scene...

As per IMDB - Roadhouse

Here’s some of the more complimentary ones I could find

“I'm not sure why they attempt to remake such strong 80s movies and think just by sticking in some expensive looking choreographed fight scenes that people would ignore the terrible scripting. Why they decided to cast McGregor, is beyond me. Possibly the worst acting I've ever seen, so wooden and boring it really ruined an ok film. Jake as usual was great, acting was very solid, you can tell he does his homework. I did get a bit bored half-way through and thought about turning it off but the optimist in me wanted to see if anything did improve. It's not going to win many awards and don't think McGregor has much of an acting career ahead of him.”

——————

“I was expecting a fun action movie, and it started well. Jake is great (as youd expect), and so are most of the supporting cast.

There are also some fun moments and lines. But then Conor Mcgregor turns up and it goes down hill fast. He really can't act, and just stomps around spouting cringe one liners that he can't pull off. You'd also expect at least his fight scenes to be good, but they weren't.

With another actor in the Mcgregor role this could have been a great action movie.

The fight scenes are hit and miss with some looking very fake with some bad cgi at times too. In fact the cgi is pretty poor in general.”

'expensive looking'... ? Cheapest, tackiest and fakest looking fkn fighting I've ever seen so far. And I've only seen one clip. Something costing money doesn't make it expensive looking. Why on god's earth did they CGI basic... fkn, bar fights. It looks terrible.

All the fan reviews I’m seeing on ig and tiktok say that it was a decent action flick and Conor was one of the better parts and very funny

Interesting how the pseudo intellectual film reviewers on these sorts of website are the only ones thrashing the b league action flick

Per Conor, this is the greatest single movie experience one can witness. Conor is not going to Hollywood to make a movie, HE IS Hollywood. This movie will be watched by hundreds of generations to come, students will write thesis on it, and UFC will become the most recognized sport in the world.

But the rt score seems decent enough. So mostly it just seems haters are targeting this light action flick.

IMDB reviews are from anyone, could even be the o.p. not that critics are any better but this is basically two reviews from Joe Shmoe, not really thread worthy (not that I expect any remakes/reboots to be good nowadays). Let me know when Gene Shalit and his glorious moustache review the movie.

Free on Prime Video.

I might have to watch it this weekend

Looks like serious fire code problem, they have 5-10" doorways.

It got 68 on RT. That's really good for a dumb bar fight movie.
