Road House Remake Discussion Thread Starring Conor McGregor

Want to see how much time "the stars" spent together,
how much research Conor did,
or the respect for his co-stars ... look no further:

5 minutes into the interview with Conor & Jake Gyllenhaal ...

Conor has no idea Jake made a film about being a fighter.
Talk about promotion.

Jake explained they are sitting in the gym where they filmed.
50 cent was in the movie... Conor still clueless about what Jake is saying.
Asks Jake.

Jake, bewildered, tells him the film name "Southpaw"

He was coke "sharp" in that interview. He seems right there with it but he's really not. Jake saying he did that Southpaw movie and then 10 seconds later Conor who had not been listening at all was surprised about him doing a movie there.

I didn’t want to watch it. But I can’t judge it fairly if I don’t watch it. So there it is.

Nowhere near as good as the original. The original had way better music (The Jeff Healey Band did all the live music.. Covers, and originals).

It had some really good characters, and decent writing. And all of the actors had really good performances, imo. Plus there were several sets of nice bare boobs.

Anyway..

Completely forgetting about the original ever existing. As a stand alone film, it’s average at best, imo. There were some good scenes in the film.

But Conor was just badly overacting, and not natural, imo.

What did they change his MCGREGOR tattoo into? Did it say KNOX SUX COX? It may as well have. Just a poor character, and poor acting that doesn’t quite fit in. Of course this is only my opinion.

This is how it went. I had 3 doobies rolled up. And had just smoked half a doobie. I figured if it sucks I’ll just go smoke half a doobie every 30 minutes.

I made it to 20 mins, before I had to take a break and smoke more weed. So in the first hour I actually smoked a joint, and a half.

Then McGregors bare ass is on the screen.. Fuck that noise..

I immediately went back outside and smoked more weed. Then every 10 minutes I smoked some more. I actually had to roll up a cpl more doobies. Even though I started with 3 already rolled.

It took me 4 hours to watch a 2 hour movie.

Brutal. 4/10 without Conor.. 3/10 with him. I would not recommend this film.

Conor did a great job for his first roll!! Holy shit!! Conor will get more parts because of his performance! Haters will continue to hate because he didn’t Robert de Niro this shit hahahahhahs

I hate him because he is extremely annoying, everything about him is, his face his voice his character. everything.

Thats said, after reading though this thread, I will eventually watch the movie with an open mind and make an opinion later.

What the hell are you smoking? And where can I get some... I want to be so delusional
You don't think Revenge of the Sith has the greatest sword fight in cinema history? Christ that's a controversial take.

Exactly what possible sword fight do you have over Anakin/Obi-Wan on Mustafar?

His role in the movie was cringey as hell but I can't completely blame Conor due to how terrible the movie is in general. It's like a D rated movie. Why Jake Gyllenhaal signed up for this is beyond me

Ill site two
this one is a take from an actual fencer

a more recent movie would be Zrodzeni do Szabli you can look that up and its authenticity yourself....

Why are MMA fighters such bad actors. Seems wrestlers make better actors. The Rock and John Cena are pretty decent at acting. Cena was hilarious in a few movies ive seen recently. Ricky Stanicky was a recent one that was really good.

Bo Nickal should've been the main character, not Gyllenhall.

Just watched it. It's a solid 7 of a movie, good, dumb, and entertaining. Jake obviously carries the movie, he's a stud. Conor's character is pretty funny imo. He's super animated, not a lot of talking, just one liners (for the best). Overall Conor played a pretty good villain that made me laugh.

Some of y'all are over analyzing this movie. It wasn't made to win awards, and Conor isn't a real actor. Reminded me of a silly 80's action flick. Not sure what some of you guys were expecting.

2009 account?

You know the answer, wrestlers are basically actors already

Gyllenhaal is terrible, a guy with zero edge, playing Dalton, trash casting.
McG hams it up well enough.

I don't really care too much about acting, unless it's really good or bad, but I thought Randy was pretty decent in The Expendables.

Oh, and isn't Pro Wrestling pretty much acting already? I'm not a big fan of The Rock and I don't ever see myself watching a movie with Cena in it, but that would probably answer your question.

I watched didn't like it.
It wasn't a family movie either if you want to see Conor naked go for it. But you won't see any hot chicks or tits just Conor... Prolly shoulda checked the rating.

Not gonna comment on the acting and stuff I don't wanna be a hater but yeah it seemed like a low budget film with some big names in it.

And its not really a serious movie

You should cena is amazing in the HBO series fucking mint and can really act one of the best TV series

I will probably give it a watch somewhere down the road but I'm not really clamoring to see it.

I'm currently trying to convince my wife to watch Donnie Darko since she's never seen it.
