Media Reinier de Ridder (MW) weighed more than Jiří Procházka (LHW) on UFC 311 Fight Night

Should Jiří consider dropping down to 185 ?

Did you know another Nurmagomedov is fighting this weekend?! :) I was feeling pretty bummed about the lack of upcoming fights, but then I noticed :)
They must be breeding like jack rabbits over there, seems to be a new one every week

I know I couldn't think of a better idea than a guy who welcomes firefights and taking shots than dehydrating himself

This formatting is finally giving me a stroke. . . ..JFC.

But no, I don't think he should change. This guy LIVES training and being healthy, so he walks around at pretty much the exact weight that HE is prime at. Why change that by dehydrating the living shit out of yourself to lose tons of your power and endurance/stamina to fight people that don't have to drain themselves nearly as much? If Jiri was obviously outsized and strengthened by his opponents, then sure, but he's tall, rangy, strong as a truck and doesn't looked dwarfed by anyone in the division.

Jiri really doesn't look like a small LHW. Not sure how he's so light.

This extreme weight cutting is a disgusting and embarrassing aspect of MMA competition and should be stamped out of the sport.

We have a 185 fight, and yet it ends up being 212 vs 190? That is truly shameful.

As for Jiri...no, he is where he belongs. The extreme cutters should be compelled to move up. Let's see the CSAC (and others) act on this.

Dricus said Jiri walks around lighter than him and is too small for LHW months ago. This checks out. It's wild because when Jiri is in the cage he looks hooge I never get the impression he's undersized or at least to level where it's obvious and hindering him.

Jiri is fine where he is, imo. He's fought at HW and did fine. He will be ok

I've said since the 2nd Alex fight he should try 185 with an actual cut. Guy just walks into the cage with no cut, which while I respect and wish more fighters did, at this point he's hardstuck as #2 in the division and a third fight with Alex doesn't make sense any time soon.

To the forum moderators...whatever you did between yesterday and today fucked up the forum format again. It's back to looking line ass

No, saying he lost his title because he was too small is a copout. He's not a small a small lhw

Yeah, either they messed up his weight or he is CLEARLY fighting a weight class above what would be the norm in modern MMA.

Jiri, Holland and Elekana weighed-in low enough to be fighting in the lower weight class.

RDR fought at 205 in ONE FC right?

When Jiri talked about moving to 185, people said he was crazy. And that he was too big for MW.

It proves the point that you can't tell how big someone is just by looking at him. People confused frame size with actual weight; the UFC commentators do this all the time.

i don't think it means he can make MW. it just means RDR is a monster weight cutter. Jiri weighed 208lbs, but look how shredded he is. you really think he can lose another 20lbs to make 185lb without looking like a skeleton? Jiri does not look too small for LHW, lets remember Pereira was a MW and people act like he should be a HW. he's not so much bigger than Jiri.

I wish we had zero weight cutting. It is extremely dumb in every combat sport. Either weigh in the day of or don't weigh in at all. Imagine how good the fights would be with zero weight cutting.

Not sure about the weight class, but he probably fought heavier than that considering their rules and the huge weight cut he did, he was double champ, probably 205 and 220 or something for their LHW division.

Not losing, cutting, just like every other MW does, RDR was heavier and being heavier than 205lbs is not rare for MW´s this days.

It is shameful, but thats also kind of the norm when talking MW´s in modern MMA, Holland is fighting in the wrong weight class, and seems Jiri too, even tho its not like Pereira wrestlefucked him twice because of his weight cutting skills, but im guessing the chances are better when you fight guys around your same size, even if neither would be 185lbs on fight night.

yea RDR is also a former LHW himself. is RDR and Pereira massive weight bullies or is Jiri too small? i think it's they're weight bullies and Jiri is just fine at LHW. maybe he can fight at MW, but i don't think he should. just like TJ Dillashaw could fight at 125lb, but he shouldn't.

DDP once said he saw Jiri weight at the PI and he said that Jiri weighed less than him.

This confirms that he was telling the truth Jiri is a natural middleweight fighting at light heavyweight

I've said for years weight cutting has nothing to do with fighting, it's borderline cheating.

You turn up to an agreed fight in the best condition you can possibly be, mentally and physically, with some of these weight cuts that's pretty much impossible.

Cutting no less than 10 pounds from your natural in shape weight, should be where it's at.

Or you weigh in at 155, you enter the cage at 155.

I would say he could or should fight at 185lbs judging by the numbers, the cut doesnt sound that extreme, for modern MMA, is Pereira a weight bully at LHW or RDR at MW? I would say they are not as long as they dont miss weight its fair game, Pereira was huge for MW, but what they cut now is more or less in line with the rest of their division.

TJ Dillashaw managed to make 125lbs but the cut seem very extreme at the time and well, he didnt perform very well, also got caught with EPO around the same time iirc, so not the best example, Dillashaw was a fighter already cutting weight to make 135lbs, if Jiri is fighting at 208lbs he is basically not cutting to make 205lbs, he wouldnt be killing himself to make 185lbs, or at least thats how those numbers make it look like.
