Recent fights/results/news from ONE Championship

is there much recent footage of Pakorn? he looked great, like 14 years ago or something, but damn, he's got to be pretty old now- did he retire for a period or something as there doesn't appear to be much in the last couple of years?

This actually popped on my youtube feed a couple of weeks ago:

He's been fighting in Japan and Europe those last couple of years and had 6 or 7 fights.

Some of his most recent fights:

He's fighting Rafi Bohic next which is not an easy fight at all.

thanks dude- i saw in his record he lost to Bohic already. I don't think the One ruleset suits Bohic perfectly as a lot of his game seems to be imposing his considerable physical strength in the clinch but i would back him to repeat the trick here

couple more predictions here, then (and I didn't know till this week that Suablack has already been KO'd by Nabati which only strrengthens my conviction there)

Kongthoranee vs Superlek, I just can't see a way for Kong to win. his best moments are the heavy rear leg kicks (mostly to the body), or the mid-close range counters with punches or elbows. There is no way on earth he is outkicking Superlek from the outside and Lek is too smart to linger at mid range giving him chances with the hands. Superlek uses the jab and teep from the outside to set up his feints and entries for the tomahawk elbows, after kicking Kong's arms and ribs to bits. a stoppage wouldn't surprise me even over 3

Petch vs Ramazanov, i just think Ramazanov's style is horrible for a 38 year old 400 fight veteran and Ramazanov, like Nabati, has a fair sting to add to his movememnt, Ramazanov UD

Pakorn vs Bohic, Bohic UD

Sibmuen vs Harrison, well Tyson was drunk for about 3 months after Kulabdam beat him up apparently, Sibmuen has some rep but i have only seen him get KO'd by some random Br\zilian. fuck knows, make a guess and say Harrison will dwarf him in size and look a weight class or two bigger and get the UD (but not without getting beat up himself, its Harrison after all)

I think Shadow beats Jimmy Vienot but not fully confident in that, have to rewatch some of Vienot's fights but Shadow looked fantastic to me last time out

doesn't take Nostradamus to predict the Suriyanlek _ Pompet rematch is just WAR BABY and who cares who wins. lol.

and Yodlekpet is going to smesh Kompet

actually isn't Superlek comning back down to flyweight to fight Kong, having started training to fight at bantam? typical One bullshit FFS. anyway, him being weight drained is the only window of opportunity for Kong

My completely unfounded conspiracy theory is that they had Superlek fight at Flyweight against Kongothoranee while Haggerty continues to train to help give Haggerty an advantage in their upcoming bout. Ideally, the weight cut and damage sustained in the fight will give Superlek a less-than-ideal training camp leading into September, and perhaps the edge Haggerty needs to win. They haven't really liked Superlek as a promotional tool from the start, putting off the Rodtang fight for ages in fears that their cash cow would lose and still not pushing him as hard as they push their other stars after he beat him. This is a great chance to push their white savior and get more people in the UK watching ONE. Again, completely unfounded, but ONE is shady man.

that doesn't strike me as the most outlandish theory I ever heard

and I hear you on One. If I wasn't so in love with OFF as a product, I would really, really hate One.

Superlek said in a recent interview that even if he beats Haggerty and is champ at 145 he will still be taking fights at 135 too. Not really sure why but okay. outside ONE he would be fighting between 138 and 143 which would be ideal for him.

For predictions:
Pompetch decision
Probably Yodlekpet decision but Im cheering for Komawut
Harrison is a wild man, hard to know how his fights go. I'm guessing Sibmuen looks better until Harrison finds a way to win.
My bro Rafi of course.
Jimmy via range advantage.
Ramazanov is too inconsistent to really predict well. If he comes in top form he wins, if he comes anything less than that Petchtanong's craftiness will win the day.
Suablack vs Nabati is hard to call. I think Nabati wins a controversial decision.
Superlek UD. Big skilled man beats small skilled man. Will be interesting to see if Superlek has to bring out his clinch game if the outside exchanges are too close for comfort.
Prajanchai UD.

I agree with this too.

No scret that ONE likes Haggerty. Kuzmin vs Haggerty was robbery I thought. After tht, they booked Haggerty immediately for the title, because Nong O got hurt bad by a jab in his fight with Ramaznov. Strike while iron is hot. Could see Nong O's chin was giving out. Adding on even more for the onspiracy, I thought they made Rui vs Akimoto decision to give easier title defense for Haggerty. Think about the styes clash. Rui is more technical than but he's old in fight miles and not durable compared to Akimoto. Haggerty lands one of those right hands Rui's probaby going to sleep. Than ONE can say well Rui beat Akimoto and he was K-1 champion with record title defense blah blah blah

If they give Rui a title shot I will be pissed.

Just rewatched Pornsanae vs Pakorn from 2010. Such a great fight, with one of the most legendary rounds in muay thai history in my opinion, where both guys refused to defend and just threw down. Both got rocked but nobody dropped, what a classic.

The card starts in 45 minutes so i have time for a few more oldies.

Not sure why the youtube link said it starts now when it doesn't start for 2 hours. Completely threw me off.

i'mma skip through the 6 random Japanese and Chinese dudes first up to get straight into the quality fights, no way i will be able to wait that long for the 2 fights i am most looking forward to (Pompet and Yodlekpet)
