It’s very well done. Stays with the themes of what a Weatern should be. Extremely well acted and shot. Performance of a Lifetime from Val Kilmer.
1. unforgiven
2. Tombstone
3. High Noon
4. Stage Coach
5. The Searchers
6. The Shootist

Lol. You and HBK think Tombstone is better than fight club and Django? That’s a really overrated film on Sherdog for some reason.

Tombstone is better than Fight Club and magnitudes better than Django for me. We can talk about storyline, technical things, and cultural impact all day. Bottom line Tombstone just makes me happy.

It's like a cheap burger at a local place that has no right being as absolutely delicious as it is. Is it the best burger in the world? No, but I love it more precisely because it didn't aspire to be so great, it just is.

Tombstone is a 7 being generous.

nostalgia is too strong. When it comes to objective technical aspects both fight club or inception stomps hard this one.

I agree that Django has some issues.

Tombstone is in the 8-9 range for me. The replay value is very strong.

so these were the people nominated the year he would have been...

WINNER
TOMMY LEE JONES
The Fugitive
NOMINEES
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
RALPH FIENNES
Schindler's List
JOHN MALKOVICH
In the Line of Fire
PETE POSTLETHWAITE
In the Name of the Father

I haven't seen any of these movies other than the Fugitive. But I still feel confident that he should have been nominated over at least some of them. Tough to say that he should have won over Tommy Lee Jones though.
I love the movie and Kilmers Doc. But with that list NO he shouldn't of been nominated that year. That was a great year for acting and movies.

Still a popcorn movie directed by an unknown guy, lol.. I don’t hate the movie but it’s not great, at all.

Enjoyment is not the same as quality, a steak beats burger all day.

Fight Club (example) is just way better than tombstone in every measurable aspect

Cosmatos wasn't unknown. He did Rambo 2 among other things. In addition to which it is said that Kurt Russell directed the movie.

Rambo 2 was garbage. Yeah, Russel probably did it.

Stallone's shadow director who lives in function of the latter and that's it, as longa manus of the propagation of a political ideology.

Rambo 2 is a huge nonsense, Cameron's script was much more interesting with a disturbing ending, but here they reduced him to an invincible cartoon character, which is not clear why he didn't destroy all Vietnamese in 2 seconds. The Russians are tender. Crenna once seemed to have a good chance, and instead gets lost in nonsense.

The microphone scene is a cult and Rambo shooting down a helicopter with the explosive arrow is a lol moment that will always remain in my heart. Too bad he didn't shoot the third Rambo, because I wanted to take the piss too.

My wife hates steak and loves hamburgers. Some people love Tombstone more than Fight Club, deal with it. If it was a no brainer Tombstone wouldn't be pulling in 10s like a boss.

Its a no brainer because when it comes to actual, objective quality and filmmaking, they are on a different galaxy.

Tombstone is a cult film that lives up a great performance of Val Kilmer and... that’s it.

Fight Club (I could name others) has influenced plenty of other movies and is directed by Fincher, lol.

Like what?
I answered the other guy, but it also occurred to me that I'm not consistent. For example, the guns firing forever bother me, but I don't seem to be bothered when he's basically bullet proof at the end of the film lol. That kind of stuff was common for movies at the time and like I said, still a top 5 favorite movie for me.

It reminds me of The Last of the Mohicans, which is my favorite film. I love every second of that movie, but the one part that kills me is DDL running at a solid clip and firing two Kentucky Longrifles simultaneously, hitting two dudes and launching them into the shrubbery. Every time it cuts to him with those rifles I start laughing and it takes me out of it for a second before I'm right back into it. But that's obviously not the only thing far fetched there. So yeah, lack of consistency on my part here, but still love both films.

The guns they used don't fire forever without being reloaded, but you wouldn't know that watching the movie. Also for me personally, some of the scenes based on Wyatt's lady troubles and successes were meh.

There's maybe one movie ever made where the guns are fired and used the way they would in real life....so that example is pretty poor.
And in every western ever made there's a chick ffs.

Are you ok sir? Or did you wake up on the wrong side of the road?

You must hate every movie with guns in it, and the women troubles and successes are done in a more realistic way than the gun parts for that matter.

Its called suspension of disbelief, try it sometime.

7-8.

It has its issues. The whole Dana Delaney subplot sucks all the energy out of the film and goes on way too long.

That's my main gripe too. Although I do think it gets intertwined well by the conclusion.

Movie floats between an 8 and 9 for me. Great cast.

Yes Val Kilmer is extraordinary in this. But don't over look the performances of Michael Biehn, Powers Booth and Stephen Lang. All did amazing in this film as well.

I think you are getting worked up and I'm not clear on why. No big deal at all. And thanks for the advice.

So your saying a because x person directed a film it's automatically better? Ok. Whatever floats your boat. Ok just saying I like Tombstone better. If you can't handle that subjective opinion so be it

A movie isn't overrated just because someone enjoys watching it more than you do

That's the same guy that got bent out of shape about me saying Million dollar baby was horse shit.
He asked me why I thought that, and I told him.
He stopped replying to me about it lmao.
