Media Rarest/Most Exotic Submissions in the UFC/MMA (gif heavy)

Epic thread! Amazing how much deep thought you can get in whilst walking the dog. Thanks for this!!!

anybody seen Dan Severn vs Ross Quam?

I doubt it- from some regional show from 1999

reason I ask is cause FF lists Severn as having won by "Jaw Lock"

anybody know what that is? Some kinda face crank?

Joe Son vs. Joe Moreira - submission (Terror)

This one also came to mind, I don't think has been mentioned - a nasty neck crank from Gary Goodrige back in the IVC days

Double underhooks, to like a reverse full nelson from the front, like a crucifix. Against Gary's power it would have been absolutely BRUTAL

called that a cow catcher in wrestling. kind of crazy to see it from standing.

here's another oddball- would this be allowed in mma?

or would an attack on the wrist count as small joint manipulation? Ankle locks are fair game, what about the wrist?

Edit: @chunglii says they're legal in another thread. http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/wrist-submision-is-not-legal-in-ufc-or-mma.2923085/

Rumina Sato with a reverse triangle wrist lock over Ulysses Gomez

'stamped

Jah Cares apparently hits one here

Royce Gracie beat Akebono with a wristlock. Perfectly legal just really hard to pull off.

I don't even know what to call this, modified hammerlock kimura?

don't know if this exactly qualifies as rare or exotic, but I loved OSP's armbar over Pedro the other night

Dude has some slick and opportunistic grappling

sherdog has it as a straight armbar, but it was set up from more of a kimura position from half, right?

really hoping somebody makes a gif of this masterpiece

Not very exotic (actually rather simple) but it is pretty rare in MMA.

When somebody is defending a Kimura, they might straighten their arm out to prevent their arm from being cranked behind their back into a Kimura. Of course now in the straightened arm state this now leaves them vulnerable to having their elbow hyperextended just like a regular armbar.

Just had to bump this GOAT thread. You the man, Flex.

awesome- appreciate the breakdown

what a fight

love the refs slapping at Randleman's cage-grabbing hand

and lol at 1:20 of the video where Shogun is basically doing this:

I think that's the most I have ever seen someone's leg bend the wrong way without breaking.

Cro Cop’s RNC on Barry. No hooks, no defense, no problem :)
