Yup. It blows my mind that last Jedi gets more shit than force awakens.

Force awakens was a complete cop out. JJ literally just told the same exact story with new actors. He had no idea how to handle Luke without pissing off fans so he just pushed off that task onto Rian Johnson.

Maybe rian didn't do a great job but he was really dealt a shitty hand to start with. So much so that Rian felt like he needed to deal a shitty hand back to JJ. This is what happens when you have dueling directors with different visions in the same trilogy.

Say what you want about Lucas but he made damn sure there was only one vision--his.

Rise of Skywalker is simliar to Jedi in that the first hour or so is a mini-sequel and seemed to me like JJ making the 2nd movie in the trilogy he wanted and the last half is the big finale. I was in theater for all releases so nostalgia.
I was actually just thinking it might be good if they take Finn and Poe and expand their characters in new solo films, without space wizardry and light sabers. New, fresh, different. No rebellion baggage. No mention of Skywalkers and no murder machines.

Just character driven, fun stories that aren't about DEEEEAAATH!!!

Its undrstandable considering all the replay value the originals have, plus the scenes. Id rather argue with folks pissing on return of the jedi than phantom. So theres teddy bears running around, big fucking deal. Baby yoda is crawling around and its a hit. In Return, the last fight is epicness and the starship battle is amazing.

Phantom has some weka starship ship battles, anakin sucks, and im not into the pod race that much. It now looks so fake that the effects appear 'blurred.' I never was too bothered by jar jar tho.
 
This last trilogy has been shit. I hate that Disney ruined this saga.

I never ever went along with that, saw them all at the time of their original release, empire was always the slowest and most boring to me.

I'd confidently say Im one of the biggest Star Wars fans on this site, and I didnt hate it. I think it was clearly written by someone that cares a lot more about star wars/fans than TLJ (which I despised), it had a handful of good moments and nostalgia and tried to salvage a sinking ship as best it could.

I went in with super low expectations and wasn't utterly devastated. There was still plenty of eyeroll inducing cringe and I didnt like Palp returning (JJ just half assed ideas from EU books like dark empire).

I just can’t see how any fans of the originals could be anything but disgusted by Palpatine returning.

it single handily shits on the emotional finale of ROTJ, making Vader’s sacrifice and redemption irrelevant. Palpatine basically won, in hindsight.

To think at the end of the saga, the Skywalkers have been wiped out and a Palpatine survives as the ultimate hero.

Its not even a competition. The prequels give us ICONIC Star Wars characters

And thats more than I can say for any of these new Star Wars movies
