Ranking the Female GOATS

Yeah but still not better than either

Brother, how can she not be better than both of them when she beat both of them twice?

Like, Rose's resume is better than Zhang and Joanna's because no one else is better than Zhang and Joanna.

Lost to Carla cancels everything else

Lost to Carla cancels everything else

haha.

That whole division is fucking strange. Rose somehow starts her UFC SW career losing a title fight to a girl that Joanna and Zhang later ran through, but then she also ran through them twice each, and then ends her SW career losing again to Carla.

It just doesn't make sense lol.

She should move back down to SW it's literally wide open for her.

How on earth are you ranking Rose below 2 girls she beat 2 times each, once by KO and DEC? lol come on man.

Also, Cyborg shouldn't be on your list. Roiding yourself to the gills, cheating on scales against cans, and only ever fighting fattened up BWs in the UFC and only one actual FW (Spencer lol) is not good.
I don't see how we could in good faith rank Rose ahead of Joanna given that Joanna was a more dominant champ for longer and dominated women who gave Rose trouble. I mean does anyone rank Frank Mir over Big Nog?

Just curious how everyone would rank the top 10 female fighters of all time (UFC and otherwise)

Here's my list.

1. Nunes- Two-division champion, beat all the names in an unbelievable run including Rousey, Shevchenko, Cyborg, etc.
2. Shevchenko- Been on top of the FLW division for years, and still competing at the highest level. Close losses to Nunes and a draw with Grasso place her slightly lower. I put her higher than Cyborg because of the quality of her opponents
3. Cyborg- Incredible record. Still only two losses in her entire career (Nunes being one of them)
4. Zhang- Another incredible record, and only three losses (Rose beat her twice, but I don't think anyone would put her higher in the GOAT conversation)
5. Joanna- Incredible run at SW, and until the very end looked unstoppable.
6. Rousey- In spite of her dominance, she's a bit lower on the list because her opposition was never quite up to par.
7. Fuji- From 2004-2011 high level of domination. The only fighter on this list who fought outside the UFC
8. Rose- Rose was always inconsistent but when she was on, she beat amazing fighters
9. Esparza- I hate to put her on any list like this but she IS a two time UFC champ several years apart, beat Rose and Grasso
10. Tate- Was in the top 10 for many years

Honorables: Andrade, Marlos Coenen, Grasso, Holm

And no. In spite of Carano's importance, she was never an amazing fighter.
Garano
Meghan long legs
Polyana Viana
Jasmin Stradivarius
Chienne Vilnius

These probably my top 5

That is a good point about their mutual opponents. It's true that Joanna essentially dominated KK, Andrade, and even Tecia to an extent, while Rose has losses to all 3 of them haha.

Don’t losses matter in these discussions, too? I agree that Rose is inconsistent, but surely Joanna and Zhang both being 0-2 against her means something?

The same applies to Zhang's dominant wins over Andrade, Tecia and Carla. Both are 2-0 (1ko) vs jj for common opponents.

It really is the weirdest fucking division ever.

Like, you've got 3 tops fighters having the strangest results to one another and common opponents.

Like, yeh, Andrade lol. Rose gets finished by her once and struggles the 2nd time, while Zhang ran through her instantly and JJ made her look like she didn't belong, but then Rose's only 2 KOs are from when she put JJ and Zhang away in a round each haha.

KK as well. Rose gets outworked by her, but then Joanna who had nothing for Rose, got hurt once against KK but otherwise made her look easy.

And Carla haha. Roses outclasses Zhang and JJ twice each, but then starts and ends her SW career with losses to Carla, who JJ and Zhang made look like a can haha.

It's amazing.

I don't rank Weidman above SIlva, no.

But Rose beating both 2 times each when both were each other's hardest fight outside of Rose is pretty significant to me.

I guess it comes down to how you weigh things. Plenty of factors contribute to greatness, such as longevity, strength of schedule, win/loss ratio, finish rate, title defenses, and so on. To me, comparing head-to-head records would only come into play as a tiebreaker, if all else was equal. I think you know this, too, or else you'd rank Carla above Rose, and I doubt you do. (To put it into words, "Sure Carla won twice, but Rose is obviously still the better fighter.")

When I compare Rose to Joanna or Weili, the latter two have the edge in pretty much every category. Rose's only advantage over each is that she beat them, and that just doesn't hold enough weight for me when the question is "greatest of all time."
