I agree with everyone upthread who said that this was a best business practices issue. Even if this guy didn't have to honor ohmalley's payment, he should have. Businesses that claim they don't make exceptions in exceptional situations because they think customers will abuse their good hearts are spewing bullshit. Good businesses do it all the time, and it builds reputation and customer loyalty.

truth. I am in property management and am bound to NOT making exceptions due to federal fair housing laws, but this not the case with 99% of the business world...

Plus its not like this is an instance where they are losing product/inventory that is cutting into their profit margin...

No, he shouldn't have. Here in America its good business practice to give people what they pay for. He paid for a service (6 "lesson packs), and was not told verbally, or via his receipt that his lessons were perishable goods. That would leave one under the impression that you were good for 6 lessons, regardless of time.

I read what you wrote, and understood it perfectly. However, its counter productive to say that you have desires to do one thing, in order to discipline people, and your not surprised by others doing it, but your not supporting it. I dont desire slapping up the white and blue belts for discipline, because its not my place, and that sort of mentality hurts the academy more than it helps it.

Come on man, some people go train to get in shape and learn a martial art while they're at it. Not everybody is meant to take it seriously. If I rolled with someone and they slapped or punched me cause I couldn't get out of mount, they better watch it when I get back up. When I signed the dotted line for a year I never agreed to abuse like that.

The fact of the matter is if what he claims happened to him really did happen to him he has, in my opinion, every right to be upset. I value loyalty as well but there's no reason to get violent or hostile in the way Ralph is known to being.

Still like i said ive never heard of a lesson pack like i was telling the other person i think there was mis-communication between both of you.

the reason why youd keep the receipt is not for taxes but because it is not something in which you'd be in regular attendance, what if you came in on a day when Kurt was sick? it just seems to me like that would be your ticket of sorts since youd be dropping in a few times out of the year.
