So when getting a read, forming an opinion about QB's what are you looking for, what criteria do you use to form your opinion?
For me it's a combination of things, I take into consideration...
comp %
TD/INT ratio
passer rating
win/loss record
playoff success
Now things can get a bit funky, look at Dan Marino vs Terry Bradshaw, as we know Terry won all those SB's while Marino never won any, but, as we also know Marino was a FAR better QB than Bradshaw. Bradshaw was surrounded by 8 other future Hall of Famers.
Tom Brady owns the numbers and all those SB;s. he must be that QB GOAT.
'
So just how important is a Superbowl win? Hall of Famers Dan Fouts, John Unitas, Warren Moon, Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly and Marino never won one and they are far better than SB champs Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Jim McMahan , so....? Joe Namath had more INT than he had TD, he is in that HOF because of one game.
Patrick Mahomes is the best QB I have ever seen and his numbers prove that, there is nobody remotely close to him at the same stage of the career.
So what do we do with Otto Graham , Unitas, Tarkenton vs Peyton, Rodgers, Brady, Brees, how about Elway and Young, how about Joe Montana? How do we deal with the different game different era's?
I read.....pro bowls don't mean a fuck.....really? Isn't that telling us that those pro bowlers were considered to be among the best at that position in that season, sure it does.
So when taking into consideration all the info we have available to us, give me your top 10 All Time QB;s., I am curious how my list stacks up.
One of the ....unique....QB situations was Slingin' Sammy Baugh, the cat played defense also and is considered to be among the greatest punters ever, like in he could punt today. Forget QB at 185 pounds
The roots to the tree
