PWD 265: In Mickey Gall We Trust

I dunno Struggle...

Punk's run in the UFC has lasted almost 2 years and he hasn't done anything. Pretty impressive

Correction, he's undefeated after almost two years in the UFC.

I may have missed this, but apologies if it's been posted...

- Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports that former WWE Champion CM Punk’s UFC debut against the 2-0 Mickey Gall has been delayed again. Punk is scheduled to undergo back surgery in Chicago today for a herniated disc.

Punk has been battling the back injury since his pro wrestling days but the injury recently worsened. Punk said he learned of the surgery from his doctor right before learning of his UFC debut opponent on Saturday.

He commented on the injury:

“My back has always bugged me. Figured it was just wrestling sh*t. Turns out it was. It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy … nothing worked.”

“This is just a bump in the road. I’m positive about this.”

A herniated disc is no joke.

Returning to Work

After open back surgery, patients first stay in the hospital for 4-5 days. This stay is necessary because the patient is often on a high dose of painkillers, and the wound needs to be redressed carefully to prevent infection. After returning home, patients cannot return to work for 4-6 weeks, or longer if the job is physically strenuous. It may take months to as long as a year to return to full mobility. This is because the large wound and damage to the muscle and bone must heal fully to prevent further injury, and because extended time on painkillers is often necessary.

The recovery time after laser herniated disc surgery is much shorter. Patients generally return home the day of the surgery. The next day, physical therapy starts. In about a week, most patients are able to return to work; those with very physical jobs will need to wait until they have fully recovered, however. Full recovery usually occurs in about 6 weeks, and at that time patients can go about all their normal physical activities with no restrictions.

So, he's now out for 6 weeks, at the absolutely least if it's laser surgery. If it's open back, I doubt he'll ever fight.

Alright, at this point what's worse for Punk:
1- Fights and loses in embarrasing fashion.
2- Never even fights and the whole thing becomes a farce.

Never fights hell look like such a pussy

I must ask you as I have asked other folks in this thread in the past: Is the IWC some insignificant minority group of neckbeards on Twitter/WF/The Board who's opinions WWE ignore, or are they this extremely influential minority who somehow got CM Punk over and had Bryan headline WM 30 and win? Which is it? It can't be both and according to you guys they definitely are not the majority.
Just a niche section of the audience who are extremely vocal.

Just because a group is small doesn't mean they can't have negative effects on things, they are the Tea Party of rasslin.

They are the real lunatic fringe.

The latter.

Because he bitch moans and complains that WWE "Brings in part time guys and puts them in main event positions over the full time guys, and that's not fair", only to do the exact same thing when the UFC came calling.

Then, he talks shit about his former employer, but also his former co-workers, basically saying "That shit's fake, this is the real stuff... guys talked about trying it, but that's all it was, just talk, I'm doing it".

If he got his ass kicked, at least he still had the "At least I did it!" to fall back on. If he doesn't go ahead with it now, not only does he look like a douche for complaining about something, only to do the exact same thing, but he looks like a bitch and a coward too, for all the shit he talked about other people.

Either way he looks like a farce who wasn't good enough to justify signing straight to the UFC in a multi fight contract. At least with the 2nd one he doesn't look like a complete keyboard warrior who can't back up his mouth.
