Prime Mirko Cop vs Lyoto Machida

I'm right though aren't I? your one of the standard UFC hype trolls who likely lost his cool and got himself banned then had to sign up with a new account.

As far as Crocop's chin goes that Randleman fight is hardly proof its glass, plum left hook and then hulk smash GnP.

I mean yeah Mirko wasn't on the same level of chin as say Nog but it was hardly glass and most importantly in his prime his defence was good enough that he didn't get hit clean very often. The older physically shot Mirko with limited mobility during his second UFC run became far easier to hit.

A weak chin for me would be someone like Reem who folds when and goes into his shell when someone lands well on him.
My earlier responses got deleted lol

I won't even bother stating my honest opinions in this thread because it will get deleted once more

first, cro cop is a heavyweight...that right there makes this fight stupid...and 2nd, cro cop in his prime was almost unbeatable in the standup...shogun ko'd him machida ..cro cop was too big, and just too good..
Honestly a better question is 2005 Shogun (with 2 knees) against 2005 Cro Cop.

Both are about 220. Cro Cop was lighter than Silva when they fought by 5 pounds. (223-218) IIRC when Shogun fought Coleman he also weighed 218 so not much of a size difference at the time. Cro Cop has definitely gotten heavier/thicker with age.

His point flew over your head, Cro Cop in his prime didn't go for takedowns, he didn't start doing that till after he was in the UFC.

Read my reply I said I forgot about the "prime" so thats why I was thinking about current brutal gnp Mirko

As far as the original question goes my feeling is Crocop probably wins via lowkicks ala Shogun, if Lyoto gets too aggressive he probably eats the left straight and gets GnPed out.

The Dragon would win easily. Styles make matches and Mirko would be kicking nothing but air.

When have you seen Cro Cop chase anyone? I've seen pretty much all of his fights and I don't remember ever seeing that. Cro Cop is not Ryan Bader.
Machida will force Cro Cop to be the chaser and will frustrate him.

Prime Machida is possibly the most elusive fighter ever and has frustrated more than just a couple opponents into chasing him.

Fedor was more elusive in his prime than Machida. Cro Cop would walk down Machida, he doesn't chase.

cro cop really good at stalking people down and only does bad vs fighters who can make him retreat. Machida does nothing but retreat. Thus, Mirko breaks him. Mirko also had leg kicks.

Exactly, giving Cro Cop time and space to work is not the way to beat him, especially in his prime.

Everyone who beat Cro Cop in his prime did it by coming forward, Big Nog, Randleman, Fedor and Hunt were all the agressors against Cro Cop.

I think cro cop would have been too much for shogun...and I thought cro cop head kicked ko'd silva?

Elusive? To explain Fedor? Nah.

Explosive, deceptively quick and overwhelming are better descriptors.

He did. Slumped Silva. Fastest I've ever seen Pride can anyone out the ring and onto a stretcher before.

Cro Cop would have been too much for Shogun IMO mainly due to the match up. Cro Cop is the better striker and while prime Shogun had strong takedowns but they weren't on that level where he would take down Cro Cop much if at all. I think Cro Cop would have out struck Shogun. Wanderlei and Cro Cop should be 1-1 but the first fight had a weird no finish no winner policy.

He has the record for least amount of strikes absorbed per minute at 1.0, Machida is like 1.6. Prime Fedor almost never got hit.

A lot of Fedor fights hit the mat pretty fast IIRC but nonetheless that's still really impressive.

Yeah, his grappling has a good amount to do with it but he also fought at a high pace and was way more of an offensive fighter than guys like Machida or Anderson but he attacked in a way that generally prevented counters due to using casting hooks and the clinch.

He made it really hard for guys to figure out when they should throw strikes or defend a takedown or clinch.

Although I could see Machida going for one if he was losing and Mirko countering and ending up ontop as in his 2nd fighs with Wand and Barnett.

Actually part of what made his takedown defence so effective is people knew he could counter overly aggressive takedowns with his own and threaten from the top.
