We needed Prime Nog to beat Mir.

Lets be realistic though Nog did not come into the Mir fight looking in brilliant form. His record was still good and he was still ranked #2 but in retrospect the signs are clearly there he was on the way down almost being KOed by both Herring and Sylvia.

Indeed I think in general its clear that the fighters of that generation didnt get surpassed the way the guys from the 90's did by an evolving sport. The likes of Coleman, Randleman, Igor, etc lost there spots at the top when they still did not look badly declined, the likes of Fedor, Nog and Crocop lost theer spots and clearly showed a general decline in form doing so. Thats made even clearer by who knocked them off, it wasnt new talent like Cain, JDS, etc but guys like Mir and Werdum who had been around for years and had been proven not to be above the best guys.

Fedor gave his back and got H Bombed into oblvion by MW Hendo. Enough said.

The best part was that, Fedor ducked UFC for years, decades even plus, ducked Reem x2 in SF then HW champ before a 3 fighting losing streak. Hendo 1 punch rd 1 was the icing on the cake. A former UFC fighter with a 9-12 record + 0-4 in gift title shots one punched Fedor. Exposed his sloppy striking, can crushing, and ducking.

I guess you could say that Fedor has a lot of dedicated "fans" on internet mma forums, but you all are a bunch of nostalgic that never trained a day in your life and don't have even the slightest knowledge about fighting.

One could be a "fan", in a healthy sort of way, then there are a blind nut huggers making threads about Fedor every other day.

Honestly, I think prime JDS and Cain are much more difficult and dangerous matchups for Fedor.

Even in terms of pure abilities, I wouldn't rate Stipe as one of the top 5 HW of all time.
