Imagine a feeling of disgust that is mild but penetrating. For example, you're at a playground with a black fly problem, and if you went looking you could find larva around the trash. If you spend longer than a minute eating food, the flies swarm it. You leave a bit of food sitting out and the flies go crazy, but you put off picking it up and are at the park for a long time. Eventually, you get used to the buzzing swarm and just move your chair away from it a little until you get up the gumption to finish cleaning up. The kids will be here for hours, and there are flies everywhere.

It is disgusting, and you get this crawling feeling all the way to your bones that is so mild you can ignore it.

That's how I feel about AI art. Even the shit people are impressed with. Even blog posts. Even finance news where a bot just spits out a headline based on stock movement. But especially blog posts and artificial paintings. The way the whole background is filled with hundreds of thousands of detailed lines. The way trails of tentacles stand in for machinery or plants. The strange, unreadable faces as the machine tries to create a complex web of emotion it doesn't understand. I hate it all. It disgusts me, and I think it is weird that other people like it.

It's like banging a good looking sex bot vs hogging a single mom at a dive bar at 2am. The sex bot may look good and clean, but it's still a machine, and you have to clean out your jizz from the plastic pussy in shame

I would think it's a type of subgenus of term Uncanny Valley. I understand the feeling.

However, what you really have to ask yourself, would you be able to tell the difference if you didn't know it was AI art?

I think that if I start liking books / music / paintings, and then it turns out I was dooped into thinking they were legit, I'd probably just stop consuming that kind of media and only engage in real things locally. The knowledge that it could be AI would make me cynical about my ability to enjoy art. I'll buy your painting if I physically watch you paint it.

AI art is not there yet, but its gonna continue to improve so lets see in one or two decades.

What did they ask the AI? Show me the view from my apartment when I'm struggling against sleep paralysis while dope sick from oxy?

Ironically, the AI art has much more depth and soul than that cold emotionless piece of human art

It’s coming for your livelihood.

It truly isn’t AI till it cleans itself

Some people are put off that the company's that have AI art creators and are making money used existing art to train AI with no money going to the artist/any existing estate of the artist if it is copyrighted.

Got a lot of painting at home from having a few artist in the Family.

Some are ugly pieces of art imo.
Still are exposed in the house.

Art is art, would put A.I art without any shame too tbh.
