Everlast's Ali line of gear is horrible. When I first heard about it I thought they were really serious about putting out a worthwhile, professional line. Its a shame they would be willing to to put his name on such low-quality equipment. But for your average joe that wants cool-looking colors on a budget, I guess its alright.

I'm just gonna stay away from everlast from now on unless it's their original pro models. I hate how they put shit out there.

I couldn't agree with you more. More often than not, you will regret buying their products or at the very least, can find something better for the same money. On a side note, I have been hearing good things about their 5oz/6oz MMA gloves but i'm still very skeptical because its Everlast.

Yeah I seen one guy at my gym use hayabusa gloves but he comes in every once and a while. He's not a gym rat like me.It's good to know hayabusa is all hype,I was close to purchasing some hayabusas 16oz gloves.I sure don't want an expensive paper weight.

I didn't say it was all hype, simply that you're paying a premium for unique colors and designs. Personally I wouldn't have paid full price for them and I didn't. Take that with a grain of salt because I refuse to pay full retail price for anything. If you like cool-looking gear of solid quality then Hayabusa is a good buy. I just don't think they significantly outperform other equipment of a comparable price range. Going with plain jane gear will save you several bills and perform similarly.

Also, Hayabusa goes out of their way to sponsor A LOT of MMA fighters. So if anything, the extra bills you spend on their pricey gear goes to progressing the sport which I think is a good thing.

Anyone else ever notice how yfg always posts about some yakthai gear on vayupakstore.com and vayupak always posts about yakthai gear. They also both happen to use very bad broken english and both just happened to join in October. I noticed this a while ago, and it really bugs me how he pretends to be two people to try to trick people into buying his products and shopping at his store.
I just think it's shady and I wouldn't buy from him.

He doesn't do himself any favours by having the link to the yakthai shop in his sig either...

Buy them! Seriously, probably the best pair of grappling gloves I own. To be honest, probably the best gear Everlast has. If you have any questions about them feel free to ask.

The only Everlast stuff I have are those gloves and the Ergo Foam bag gloves which in all honesty are pretty decent.

wow... I am REALLY surprised. My first pair of training gloves were Everlasts and they sucked. they killed my wrist and actually burst on impact. the inner material started coming out and everything. bad situation.

but I'm in the market for some new mma gloves and seeing this review makes me a bit curious. not trying to hijack thread, but please any one with info... more input (or start another thread with input)!

If you had the same experiences with Everlast like I have when I first started training, you would be just as hesitant. I have yet to find a piece of their equipment that I would use or recommend, its honestly a shit brand in my eyes unless I can be convinced otherwise.

What kind of gloves did you have? Did you have the "Pro Style Grappling Gloves" or "Leather Grappling Gloves". The names are coming directly from the Everlast website.

The ones I have are these 6 oz. Leather Grappling Gloves-Everlast.com

I would say they are very good quality. They do need to be broken into though and the finger areas are a little tight. I have small hands and own a regular and they pretty much fit perfectly to my hand. Lot of people prefer a large though.

The strap system is sort of annoying...it works well, offers really good wrist support, but it's nearly impossible to put on if your in a rush.

I'm not ignoring the fact that it's a shit brand...it's still a shit brand haha. But you can find gold in a pile of shit once in awhile.

Very true. There are diamonds in the rough but i'm not going to spend my money to experiment and find out anymore. I already spent over $150 in Everlast gloves, shinguards and headgear over the years and I wish I was smart enough to save it for something better. Maybe I would have had a better collection to show off haha.

Haha yeah. I sort of took a gamble on these. Same with the Ergo Foam's. It was a pretty good deal at the time so I picked them up. I got the grappling gloves for $15 though. For one day they were marked down to $15 and I had a free shipping code. Couldn't exactly pass that up.

I feel bad for anyone who bought the Protex 3's. Sadly, they are very good gloves, but the durability is terrible. I know a few people that have them and basically the glove just fell apart after a couple months.

oh no... I had 16 oz training gloves (cant find pics of them, but they were about $40 have japanese writing on them). not the mma ones (but actually, I do have a pair of the everlast mma training gloves that were a gift that I've never worn, but I never wanted to use so I've been meaning to return them to mmawarehouse).

Oh I know which ones your talking about. It's pretty sad because they could actually become a really good company if they focused on the higher priced gloves. But because they are too worried about the beginners/fitness only, there quality sucks.

The Everlast gear with the Kanji is their first generation line of MMA gear. I had their mma gloves, headgear and shinguards all with that kanji styling during my first year of training because I didn't know any better. Cheap vinyl shells with crappy inner lining and foam padding that didn't quite do the job, man was I a sucker back then.
