Yeah, he didn’t like any of the prices on Edgar’s site for anything. But he also thinks you can still get Winnings in the States for under $300 (he and his guys constantly fall for fakes). Thinks you can still get new Reyes for $150. Thinks you can get other Mexican brands in Mexico for under $100.
My first pair of Bayonetas was under 300, which I thought was fine. Over 300 for the second pair was a bit much, I agree.
Think I’m done for a while. Tonight I had to resist the urge to buy those white New Sportings currently on the site with the metallic Fiesta colors (blue, orange, pink). My wife was going to pay as a Christmas gift and everything (sigh).
Changed my mind on the New Sportings. Wife wasn't able to get the gift she originally wanted to get me for Christmas, so I guess it works out. I know i hav
Yeah, sorry I think I realize where you were coming from now, my bad if it was an overreaction. New Sporting definitely worth another look. A coach who visits frequently from another gym (and was my close friend's trainer before they had a falling out) has been giving me shit about my Bayonetas so I'm a bit sensitive about them. Love these gloves, they're my babies.
I got the 2.0s. Ergonomically they are probably the best gloves I've ever put on. Out of the box the padding feels more like focus mitt padding than glove padding, so I've been a little worried. I hear when they soften up they're actually perfect. I may have to use them on softer bags until they soften up though, because on hard bags they're pretty jarring. Going to be a while before they're sparring ready I think. (In person, they're not as crooked as they look in this picture)
I've been trying to really break in each pair of gloves in this most recent haul (2 Bayoneta, 1 Boxeo TM, 1 Tigrao, 1 C17, 1 Eizo) so I can see how they each feel once they're properly molded. I don't want to have half-formed opinions. As a result, I've just been focusing on the gold Bayonetas since November. I'll probably stick with them exclusively at least until January, unless I use the softer/newer red Bayonetas for sparring. It's going to probably take me a year before all the pairs are properly broken in. I'll try to crank out some reviews as I get through them. Not sure which glove I want to get to next.
e a problem. But, for a San Antonio Spurs fan, these were impossible to pass up.

He may be wrong about Winning and Cleto (and only somewhat Cleto, you can definitely find them much cheaper if you know where to look) but he's definitely not wrong about brands in Mexico. Campeón, Casanova, Ángeles, Lopez, GIL, Boxeo, pretty much all of the classic brands outside of Grant style gloves (the punchers style gloves) like New Sporting and Boxeo TM are definitely under $100 in Mexico. What brings the price up are shipping costs, and if buying through a third party (BUN, TBC) their cut.
They (their parties) don't really bring much value imo. The only scratched pair of New Sporting I received were from TBC and not New Sporting actual. They were even opened by customs, and the scratched weren't on the back side of the glove, but on the striking surface. Fighters Boutique also always took care of me when they used to sell Mexican gloves. Fair prices, free shipping, and they were open about blemishes. Unfortunately they stopped carrying them because people thought the deals were too good to be true and he say on his stock for too long.
Under $300 sure, but was he still charging the "VAT Fee" and the extra $10 "shipping fee"? Lol, no way he ships for $10. Shipping is already factored into the price like at New Sporting, the $10 is just an extra taste. If your gloves were $289+ VAT, that's still the current $335 rate, he just stopped calling it VAT and added it to the price of the glove. Edgar isn't slick.
I'm glad you decided to pick up some New Sportings from their latest batch though, you can decide for yourself! I hope you love their functionality and comfort as much as you like the colors.
Eizo is this weird spot between feeling like Winning, Fly, and cheap RDX all at the same time. I don’t quite get it. But they are super comfy out the box and make pretty good contact on the bag. The synthetic leather has that soft feel kinda like Fly where you don’t need to squeeze hard to make a fist. Padding has a little bit of a Winning shape, but not quite as door knocker knuckle focused. I don’t know how long they’ll last or how they’ll break in. Could be an all around glove, a HIIT/bag class glove, or maybe just a sparring glove. Won’t know till they get more use.
Yikes, thanks for this. Good to know, definitely staying away from these. Rival has a nice synthetic material. I have some Guerrero's on the way, maybe they'll replace the RS1 in my sparring set and I'll beat up the RS1, the synthetic on this is excellent. Hope you get to return them brother! Keep us updated.Final verdict on the Eizos is that they are really just glorified RDX gloves. Definitely not worth the money. Trying to return them as I type this.
Damn bro you have good taste! I was looking at those too! Beautiful gloves! If they fit your hands the best, that awesome, I just want other posters to know that New Sporting can make you gloves to those very specifications, also like Salvador, and single layer latex gloves "punchers style", on request. Of course this is all while they ride this wave of good customer service, they could easily go back to where they were in 2019 if they aren't careful. I hope not, I'm rooting for New Sporting. Did you like these more than your Winnings for sparring? Why did you get rid of your Winnings? I always ask people if they actually like them or if they just bought them because pros use them. I'm pretty much a Mexican glove supremest myself, lol.Second pair is the newer model. Color is the red lacquer with white trim. I needed a sparring glove after getting rid of my Winnings and getting some pressure to get laceups. My first pair (the gold ones) feel like indestructible tanks: stiff padding, thick, water resistant leather, with a pretty small profile. Second pair has kind of that Winning aesthetic of soft, flexible, glossy, high-end leather. The 2 pairs complement each other well, even if a bit pricey. It’s the fit that makes it worthwhile for me though, it’s exactly what I prefer.
Don't get it twisted brother, I only brought up Hit N Move because you said this:Finally got around to looking up MK1 and HNM. Neither are my cup of tea appearance-wise, design-wise they seem kinda gimmicky (especially the HNM), and neither looks particularly well made. The number of defects on their advertisement models is actually surprising (they probably shouldn't have made those images zoom-able). I'm definitely a Mexican-made glove fanboy and those are not it.
It's
going to probably take me a year before all the pairs are properly broken in. I'll try to crank out some reviews as I get through them. Not sure which glove I want to get to next.
(Sorry not sure why the quotes broke, it did it twice so I'm not fixing it again, lol).
So I made a recommendation, that's all. They're great gloves, but like I said, I'm a Mexican glove supremest myself, lol. You just seem to have all of the good stuff already. Grants not really worth it, for me the Tippy Top are New Sporting and Boxeo TM, for you it's probably Bayoneta. In the Mexican gloves world, there's nothing better than those.
