You get over it pretty fast imo.

Although I watched boxing before I got into MMA too.

I don't seem to be able to get over it. I'll watch boxing if that's what my bros want to do but it doesn't speak to me

I went pro wrestling to ufc but I'm not a ufc 1 kinda guy I become a fan in 2004 right before tuff.

I want ufc 1 rules with modern fighters and no drug testing is what I want to watch.

One of the differences is boxing fans tend to know the history of boxing going back 40 - 50 years, and some MMA fans have no respect for something that happened 5 years ago.
Yup. And MMA fans have no real respect for excellence in the sport, they only respect personalities. That's why they call grapplers "crotch sniffers". Boxing fans in my experience have much more understanding and respect for the craft of boxing. Meanwhile MMA fans think Alex Pereira is a better fighter than Islam Makhachev LOL. Very low IQ.

I prefer boxing to mma. Especially the fanbases. MMA has some corny ass fans.
I understand the gripes with the fanbase, but I dont get why it should interfere on watching the fights itself...
Though I usually watch fights alone, so my interaction with the fanbase is only reading sherdoggers trolling on a karate forum

But that's again a huge ask, and boxing is all about never getting anything done, so I'd doubt it ever happens
This is why i dont bother following, If the big cool fights happen cool, but im super duper casual and have ZERO clue how follow boxing in any centralized matter, MMA i just follow the UFC and it's easy because weight classes are simple.

Then we get to the point where some fighters outside the UFC are big enough to pay attention too, like Soldic, Dakota, ngannou, eblan, U.Nurmagomedov ect

For one thing, the fan base is one of the reasons Trump and all his retards get paraded on every other UFC PPV making the sport political. That certainly interferes with the viewing experience. Also, i attended a UFC card in MSG (DC vs Derrick Lewis) and the whooping sounds were annoying as hell, they just kept doing it all night lol. I've attended dozens of boxing cards live and they're infinitely better experiences,... night and day difference. Mma fans are tools, worst fan base in sports.

After I got to know the UFC, I realized that this sport is about two people hitting each other with pillows—lost its charm, just kid stuff.
Bro, that reminds me of when me and my older brother got sockem boppers for christmas when i was 9..... this toy that's like an inflatable water wings for your fists, them bitches didn't make it past the new year we was scrapping all christmast break lol

I will always prefer a high level boxing match to an mma match.
I don't have a preference, myself.

I have room in my world for both.

I like that a long boxing fight can unravel in a myriad of ways due to the number of rounds and scoring knockdowns making a huge difference. But I also love MMA were someone has to extricate themselves from danger.

I very occasionally watch a fight but for the most part I don't give a shit.

It's bad enough watching an event at a bar live, couldn't handle the people live at an actual event. Like going to a raiders game I'm Oakland, which I have worst decision ever.

I find watching it a a bar to be less annoying than at a event, oddly enough.

I don't follow boxing but I do watch from time to time, especially big fights.

Me too i prefer mma week to week more exciting but the highest level I prefer boxing.

The sport of boxing is great, and when you have epic clashes (See Bivol/Butterbiev 2, or historically Ward/Gatti) it can be as exciting as any MMA fight. The problem is boxing has so many problems that it's hard to stay a tried and true fan.
A lot of the fights there's problems with engagement (A LOT of fighters afraid to lose, because a loss will screw them, and re-structure their careers), too many tie-ups, too many promoters, truly HORRIFIC reffing and judges calls (LEGIT corruption, as opposed to inept reffing/ judging, which happens in MMA, but not nearly as much). Not to mention (for all of the above reasons) the best rarely fight the best. It's hard to get psyched knowing that some of the best fighters will either never meet, or meet once their outside of their competitive peaks.

I watched a lot in the 70s-90s.

All the biggest fights were on Wide World of Sport, etc, on American network TV for free.

But haven’t really given a shit since about the mid-90s. And I discovered MMA/UFC circa 2003.

I don’t watch at all really anymore. I have streamed a few fights. But no.. I just don’t care. In addition to the circus it’s become.
