I was a big boxing fan from the late 80's until like the early-mid 00s. Somewhere around Jones/Tarver, Corrales/Castillo. Moved, didn't have HBO or Showtime anymore and it fell by the wayside for me.

The art itself is good, as limited as it is. It's history is quite amazing.

But the sport is what I would call watered down garbage. I would have to take up your entire day to explain everything that is wrong with it.

There is alot wrong, but at the end of the day, fighting is fighting, and the "limits" allow these athletes to refine their punching in ways you wont see anywhere else. It's something I very much enjoy watching. This is very much needed in Martial arts as a whole, because something discovered first in boxing could still be applied to MMA.

i think the ufc's gone to shit since covid, i actually follow boxing as much if not more now. its been particularly strong the last 2 - 3 years. It makes me sad how far the ufc's fallen in terms of saturation/level of fighters and the politics (not saying boxing doesnt have massive issues and didnt spend years being utter shite).

I def do hate the Apex shit.

I wouldnt say follow, but i do follow what you could call the big name fights, i watch UFC cards top to bottom for the most part, boxing i only care about a couple of fights per card.

Back in the De la hoya and mike tyson days. Not much anymore. I mean i'll watch a few big names but boxing and even mma doesn't really get me excited anymore.

Up until very recently, I did. Been falling off combat sports outside if bjj fir a while but I'm getting the interest back

I’ll watch the occasional big fight but I don’t go out of my way. I don’t have time to follow a whole other sport and I find the dynamics of MMA to be much more interesting.

I enjoy the sport of boxing very much
It's too bad the business of boxing always gets in the way. Turki and the Saudis are trying to throw money at that problem and they've made some great events but I don't know if I like where it could all go long-term.

I'm a big fan of Usyk and Inoue

Yes religiously now that big fights are being made again

I know it is a more limited form.of fighting but I far prefer it to mma

This is why i dont bother following, If the big cool fights happen cool, but im super duper casual and have ZERO clue how follow boxing in any centralized matter, MMA i just follow the UFC and it's easy because weight classes are simple.

Then we get to the point where some fighters outside the UFC are big enough to pay attention too, like Soldic, Dakota, ngannou, eblan, U.Nurmagomedov ect
That's because there isn't really a way to follow boxing in a centralized way! There are many different promotions, 4 different major belt sanctioning bodies, countless lower level titles from those and other bodies, and no centralized streaming service for boxing.

UFC fight pass at least has a shit ton of other MMA organizations' fights. If you wanna watch boxers from Top Rank, you gotta subscribe to this service and if you wanna watch boxers from PBC you gotta subscribe to this other service and so on and so on.

You've got to really like the sport of boxing to be a real fan. They don't make it fuckin easy. Turki and the Saudis seem to be trying to centralize and consolidate the sport with dickloads of money but I really don't like the fact that they're trying to save boxing through sportswashing. Plus I don't want them to monopolize the sport and create a problem like the UFC is to MMA.

It's such a can of worms. I just wanna watch boxing damn it

Now you are just being ridiculous.

Pillows that KILL
A Derrick Lewis pillow can also... lol

I forgot to mention that they look like cripples, unable to kick or knee. Not to mention the ridiculous shorts and clinches.

Anyway, it's a secular sport, there are always a lot of people who like it and at least it pays very well. In my opinion, even so, I could die tomorrow and it wouldn't be missed. Besides, boxing for boxing, BAREKNUCKLE wins 1000 to 0
