Media Pimblett Goes off on Helwani in Interview with Dana White (UPDATE: Helwani Responds).

Ariel is human trash

I was about to click on his “response” to laugh at him crying again but it’s 7mins long so hard pass.

Fighters, much like strippers, are independent contractors. Strippers often have to pay the house for the opportunity to dance. In this scenario, Ariel is the house. Its very generous of him not to charge fighters for the opportunity to "dance"

I don't think that analogy works, because strippers are making a ton of money "dancing" if that is the case.

Fighters are getting some exposure on a niche MMA show sure, maybe increasing their visibility and brand a tiny bit. Most fighters have no personality, youtube channel, brand, things to sell, etc. So what are they directly earning?

I never really saw the issue with people coming on Helwani's show per se, but he has been an absolute rat over the years to fighters and 100% has manufactured drama. There's a reason Nick Diaz slapped him and explicitly said that years ago, and Rampage had beef, and numerous fighters did with him.

I'm not really sure if it's a completely valid point that Paddy brings up, but it sort of is. And he said it in connection with Helwani calling for fighter pay. It's really a triforce of 3 scumbags on this subject.

1. Fighter pay is trash for lower fighters. It could be higher. Dana protects corporate interests and his own money by poo pooing fighter pay increases and unions consistently. But also, lower tier fighters don't draw really and boxing also screws them for example. Doesn't justify it but.

2. Helwani is a rat who makes money based on fighters. His platform is independent again, maybe MMAfighting connected probably which is like a niche shitty vox media cuck site. Or it's youtube. So for him to cry about fighter pay while not compensating fighters at all is also kind of ridiculous on some level.

3. Paddy either doesn't care about fighter pay because he's retarded, is selfish and aware, or strongly believes that you have to make a brand and sell yourself (which he's stated). So he also doesn't actually care either, it's all about himself. But then again, at the end of the day that's how the world works. Everyone is out for themselves.

This is perhaps one of the WORST things I have ever read in my life.

There is no connection between Ariel making money as an MMA journalist and the shit pay from the UFC. This is like saying you can't say servers deserve more money from their employer unless you tip x.xx%. You aren't responsible to compensate someone because their employer doesn't pay them well enough for industry standards.

Ariel literally started with nothing and covered the sport when very few people were doing it. He worked his ass off and has earned everything he's received. He didn't have rich friends to support him or a funny accent that has gotten him farther than he should be.

Fighters don't have to go on his show. No one is forcing them. Most want to because they don't get much exposure in platforms where they can say what they want. There are fighters like Urijah Faber who understand the deal, have been around since the beginning, and will come on the show any time. It's not that complicated.

To claim Ariel doesn't care about the fighters is nonsense, even though yes he sometimes likes to stir up a bit of drama. The guy has put in more hours than pretty much anyone else in the business and has always made time for any fighter who wants it.

I don't really like or dislike Ariel but this is very strange from Paddy. Ariel has been his #1 fan and has hyped the shit out of him for as long as I can remember. He absolutely loves (or loved) the Paddy/Molly duo. This is even after the whole refusing to go on his show thing. Thinking about it, I've never heard Ariel say a bad word about Paddy.
He talks about Paddy cos it gets him clicks thus making him money.
Ariel would be well aware of which fighter is trending and if its in a positive or negative way.
He would be well aware Paddy has got a lot of positive attention on him at the moment.
He doesn't give a fuck about Paddy its just business.

good stuff thanks! I don't suppose there is a transcript of what he says after the 7:xx minutes of him talking about his feelings???

Might be snippets that make their way to various articles but otherwise I'd doubt it.

<RomeroSalute>

I don't bother with podcasts anymore but do track a fair shake of MMA media's regurgitations.

Its pretty obvious where the "vitriol" comes from, Graham Boylan has spoken to him and pumped him up. Graham was "offended" that Ariel exposed him and said he wanted money for interviews, its pretty straight forward really.

I think with the exposure thing its made out like ariel is helping the fighters when in reality they are helping him make money. Especially someone like paddy who already has a spotlight on him.

It's obviously a symbiotic relationship. If fighters don't think it's beneficial then they wouldn't waste their time.

Ariel was doing this when he was basically making peanuts. People never even saw the early shows and are pretending like Ariel just landed assbackwards into some fantastic position that he doesn't deserve. It's quite humorous.

Ariel taking an hour out of the show to talk about his own personal beef with fighters. That's why people hate him. The reality is, Ariel Helwani is a brand first and a reporter second. He brings this onto himself because he wants the extra bucks
Nah your comment is exactly why helwani hate is obviously irrational. My God. He could save a baby from getting hit by a car tomorrow and you'd obviously find a way to turn it to a negative.
