Media Pimblett Goes off on Helwani in Interview with Dana White (UPDATE: Helwani Responds).

I asked earlier, if Dana and the UFC didn't exist, what would Helwani be doing? He literally makes his living off of them.
He interned with NBC covering the Olympics and got a gig as a sports production assistant for HBO right out of college, so I imagine he’d be a sports writer turned podcaster but covering other sports.

Boxing journalist, wrestling journalist, boxing announcer/interviewer (most recently showtime boxing cards). He would succeed wherever he wanted most likely.
He's not any kind of journalist and never has been. And he's completely clueless about boxing. Maybe he knows pro wrestling, I don't know. He's known because of the UFC.

Did he address the issues that paddy raised? That Ariel doesn’t pay fighters for their interviews while he himself makes money from them? Paddy said he couldn’t do the interview with Ariel as he was due to be paid on the same day by a journalist.

I believe you, I never heard him saying he does that as a lot of times those interviews where he calls the other fighter mid interview it does not seem like both were 100% it was happening. I'm not talking about when the interview starts off with both, iirc there were times he'd call one during the interview.

I mostly just don't like the shit-stirring or repeatedly trying to fish out information that the fighter made clear they don't want to talk about. That type of stuff is personally annoying to me but again it's not enough for me to actively dislike Ariel or not watch his stuff. Overall i think he does a great job.
Got it, he’s not for everyone for sure. I actually enjoy that he asks questions that other vanilla journalists won’t and pokes occasionally. At this point, even when he does that he never crosses a line and moves on. I think fighters would all boycott his shows if they were so upset about this but that’s not the case for most.

And Paddy is not even ranked yet lol.. I dont see a good future for him with that attitude, thinks he has already "proved" himself obviously.

WAR NOSE !

Might actually give him some views on mute one day, just to be nice.

Dana pays them to fight and they are basically his employees. Ariel is not involved with that at all. I think it's worth bringing up maybe he SHOULD be paying the fighters for their time for interviews, but that's not just an Ariel thing that's a media thing in general. "Exposure" and "promotion" i think are actually big aspects of making it big as a fighter. How often are we seeing people complain about no personalities etc. and then also how many times are we seeing people become fans just based off of social media and intervews and things like that?

I don't think Ariel or the media ever should really take credit for a fighter's popularity but they certainly help them and provide them a platform to do so.

To Paddy's point, he said Ariel wanted him to take his interview over a different interview that was going to pay him. He's also right that Ariel tries to play the "friend" card with a lot of fighters but when it comes down to it he'll hide behind the "journalist" excuse to bad mouth them or people associated with them when it suits him.

He's not any kind of journalist and never has been. And he's completely clueless about boxing. Maybe he knows pro wrestling, I don't know. He's known because of the UFC.
Answer this then since he isn’t a journalist. Why was he banned from the ufc event by Dana years ago?

And he is actually pretty knowledgeable when it comes to boxing history. If he’s so clueless then why did Showtime boxing hire him?

Same question re: Vince McMahon and WWE. Same answer. It doesn't matter. They're both successful beyond Helwani's wettest dreams.

The difference between Ariel, Vince and Dana is he actually had to earn his dollars. He didn't have millions of dollars just handed to him to being able to fuck around with like Dana and Vince did from their friends and dad.

He's a successful rich man on his own hard work with no one carrying his ass along the way.

“Maybe this F’ it Friday thing, maybe, if there’s a deep desire to watch a 50 yr old man eat a Cheeto pancake…”

10-7 for Thug Nose

i'm all for it -- Ariel strikes back!

might as well. Dana is a f'ing nasty vindictive piece of work, he deserves to have people taking a pop at him.
