I had it 3-2 Poatan. Apparently completely nullified your opponents wrestling by stuffing 100% of takedowns means nothing, but holding someone against the cage after a failed takedown does.

Ank didn't much better on the feet than I thought he would, and Poatan did better grappling than most thought he would, including a trip takedown to close out a round.

Ank had two or maybe three meaningful shots in the fight, but it is what it is when you leave it in the hands of never trained judges.

I was sad to see Alex lose, specially since he is so active, but Ankalaev was the one who:
1. Out boxed with more head strikes
2. More body shots
3. Had his opponent hurt
4. Controlled the clinch
5. Got a takedown

Pereira didn't do anything of note, DC and Rogaine were having a hard time finding highlights for Poatans, they had to rely on jabs and blocked headkicks

If you can defend the takedown you can also defend being pushed towards the cage. How can this be done? It can be done by doing exactly what your opponent is doing, but better.
If that's not in your game plan, guess a better plan was required.
I thought Ank would get fucked on the decision so I am surprised of the result.

The 2 close rounds you gave to the champ because "you have to take his belt" is an inherently flawed and incorrect way of scoring fights.

The champ doesn't get extra points per round for being champ. Whoever performed better wins. Having a belt going in doesn't give you brownie points.

Only thing Alex did damage wise was calf kicks.

His TD defense was excellent but thats probably in part why he lost the striking battle had to worry too much about defending take downs.
