Payton Talbott hype train derailed as fast as it started

i hope the bettors fade Talbott like a lot of the posters in this thread because i love free money.

if the ufc didn’t have such shit fight booking practices, they would give Talbott a step down that he will dog walk & then give him another step up in competition on the fringes of the top 15/top 25, except against a similarly experienced prospect on a hot streak, or a seasoned veteran who mostly kickboxes.

if you aren't an idiot its pretty easy to tell he looked good considering who he was fighting. Guy has plenty of time to improve. Just because you aren't a contender right out of the gate doesn't mean you are incapable of reaching that level.
exactly! Look at Do Bronx for example, how many Ls did it take for him to become the monster he is today?

Damn, that’s a blast from the past, Nastula the Polish judoka from pride, gave big nog a pretty decent fight back in the day.
EH i dont remember him doing that well

He DID almost knock Josh Barnett out but then popped in that fight. Imagine fighting Josh but your the one that pops lol

Talbot's obviously talented but he got some shit to work on, all good.

Well as in he didn't get submitted in the first 2 minutes like I expected and actually made Nog work for like 10 min.

Not all that bad for your MMA debut against one of the best HW's in the world, talk about a baptism by fire.

I didn't really understand the absurd betting odds. Obviously, he's a talented young athlete but we haven't even had a chance to see him fight a hard grappling based individual and we're gonna make him +750... wild, Barcelos is an aging athlete but his loses have been to good guys and he's a legit wrestler when he chooses to be... Maybe Talbot learns and gets better with this
-750? He was 1200 at fight time

Ridiculous

He needs to shave his head and move to Indonesia and Larp as a monk

He looks like he doesn't like health insurers' CEOs

Omg, he was -1200 betting favourite, lol. Insane to make a unproven guy that huge a favourite against a vet like that

It was an absurd booking to begin with. Going from guys like Saaiman, and Ghemmouri to Barcelos is one of the larger jumps in competition you’ll see.

I picked Barcelos by decision and anyone who knows anything about either fighter should have known him being a -1050 favorite was insane and this outcome isn’t all that surprising.

I took Barceleos as a straight win, risky going a decision for not all that much more.

+750 needs to be something like me vs Whittaker to be reasonable odds.

I actually looked at the odds as i wanted to bet on Payton but those were laughably off.

Actually, also parleyed Talbot, Jiri (as an underdog for some unknown reason) and Merab. That was pretty sweet.

Thought he showed good heart coming out in the third, after dropping the first two rounds dominantly, and fighting hard, instead of crumbling and folding. Still think he has a lot of promise and this loss will be good for him in the long run.

Yes indeed. Same

And I cant stand his "whatever" aloof ass personality

but in the fight, if he knew what to do he woulda done it. He just need to go back and work on some things.

I thought the exact same thing when i seen his interview earlier that week

He looked good for a lot of the fight. Ended up in worst case scenario earlier yet met the bell. He started to melt towards the end. It seems he had grappling holes exposed. Still he had moments of brilliance and heart. I can't write him off just yet but he lost very clearly and Barcelos isn't top ranked

Its MMA, more luck and freak injuries than any other sport imo.

I'm terrible, but +750 should be great vs terrible.

Only sport that comes close luckwise is soccer.
+750 translates to an 88% chance that the favourite wins.

Do you think you beat Robert Whittaker 12% of the time?
