Hot Take Paddy Is gonna Beat Gaethje Pretty Easily

I don't think it will be an easy nights work for either. I just want it to be a barn burner and it definitely has that potential. I'm not overly bothered about who wins as I'm more interested in Ilia vs Arman which is the most exciting fight in the division by a long shot.

If you pushed me, I'd say Paddy purely based on his youth, ground game and having way less miles on the clock. However, he does like to leave that chin high both when he steps in and when he takes a step back in exchanges, there's every chance Justin finds it and he can close the fight.

I think Shedog forums should get rid of the Hot Take tag.. because is giving too much room for these stupid threads.

Its a fun style matchup and a test for both guys. Wouldn't be surprised to see either guy win, its going to be who can implement their game.

Paddy looked great against Chandler - who isn't in his prime, nor is JG and Michael is still dangerous. Paddy is clearly still improving every fight and he's been torching the guys in front of him.

Justin is winding down his career, no doubt still will swing for the fences and hits pretty hard. He might land something big, or he might get choked out because he absolutely sucks at grappling.

This is a toss-up and I lean towards Paddy based on age/trajectory alone. Should be fun, despite it being an abomination of a title fight.

In the recent promo videos, I thought Justin looked a bit old and slow, so I'd take Paddy.

Hoping for a worthy JBG service nonetheless.

There's a gap of fight IQ, optons and adaptability here.

Gaethje has one way to win, but we all know exactly how he's going to try to fight.

Paddy Is going to be a lot smarter here, he's not gonna engage directly In any sort of fire fight. He's good enough to have success on the feet, but it will be tactically, not by playing Gaethje's game directly.

When it hits the ground, and it will, I believe It's over. Paddy is way too good on the ground and Gaethje is still a white belt with no real desire to improve his jiu jitsu.

Overall Paddy makes this look easy, which will make fans double down on underestimating him, saying he only beats aged fighters, etc.

So how did this work out?

I agree paddy gonna come out like thunder pulling moves we've never seen before. His speed is gonna make the flash move in slow-mo more than he already does. His grappling is gonna be full silverback gorilla. He's.. oh wait nvrm. he lost.

happens to the best of us.. lol.

I thought Paddy would eventually end up on the ground somehow, but his gameplan seemed to be to stand with him mostly.

I think he's got a ways to go before he hits his full peak as a fighter, with Justin being his first true top level test and 5 round fight. Where as Justin is still In pretty good form and has a lot of experience at the highest level. It was a big step up.

I don't think the pick itself was far off, but the timing certainly was.

Overall good scrap though, when you've been tested like that, you either ascend or fall off. Time will tell how far he rises up the ladder

I’ve never seen someone come back from a comprehensive beating like that. But I guess it depends on what you mean by “come back.” He will never be champion but I could see him staying in and around his current ranking.
