Ozzy Osbourne

whats hard to understand about people liking different things?
Could you fathom someone enjoying eating shit sandwiches? Nothing is wrong with it. I'm just saying I can't even see the appeal.

Not seeing the appeal is different from not seeing how anyone can enjoy it

People enjoy different things.

Im sure you listen to music people cant and dont enjoy lol

Feel the same way about rap music to be honest. All posturing bollocks from mental midgets.

Anyway, with the way that he sings and acts on stage, Ozzy shouldn't have really worked, but the man is a metal legend. He reminds me a bit of Marilyn Manson to be honest, a showman with poor vocals but blessed with brilliant band members.

Ozzy used to be great, he just hung around until he wasn't anymore. It happens.

I'm not trying to be edgy, I'm metal as can be. My dad was a huge Black Sabbath fan, I listened to Black Sabbath pretty much every Sunday morning.

I just don't like him, his voice, anything at all.

Put your "this is where metal started" shoes out in the garden. I'm not alone, am I?

So... Dio's Black Sabbath > Ozzy's Black Sabbath?

Who cares?

Do you only listen to acoustic guitarists?

What does that have to do with who is a better singer ? Plugging your guitar into an amp is not the same thing as using vocal effects, that would be like comparing the use of autotune to getting music lessons

A meth head tried to sell me some Ozzy CDs one time while I was pumping gas.

That's all I have to say on the subject.

There were some pretty heavy bands around before Sabbath. People who say they started metal aren't giving some bands who came before them their due.

Never really liked Ozzy, I always thought he used his image to be famous doing crazy bat shit and stuff and young impressionable minds went crazy because of that, but musically on his own I dont think he was even good. The amazing music of Black Sabbath is more due to Iommi not Ozzy, he only had a good voice to go with but he was born with that. After he left Sabbath he got together with Randy and Randy was great as well, but when Randy died Ozzy was left on his own and all he had was his crazy image and yeah he milked that shit very very good but as I said musically nah I never thought he did anything great on his own.

Everybody is here talking about Ozzy because of the crazy shit he did, and because of the tv show, if he didnt do those things and only relied on the music he made we wouldnt even be talking about him today.

I was raised on Black Sabbath. Not a lot of people will openly admit to this out loud and in public, but here goes... The Dio years didn't suck... There I said it.

Honestly, a lot of what Ozzy did during his solo career was crap. And RJD recorded quite a few really good tracks during his tenure with Sabbath, but at the end of the day Ozzy was part of Classic Sabbath, and Ozzy at his best was pretty unbeatable. Ozzy at his worst... well, we're talking phoned-in duets with Lita Ford and stuff so... yeah.

And now, as with any time I mention the Dio years, I must go listen to Heaven & Hell.

It's hard for me to not be an Ozzy fan since my mother always played his stuff when I was growing up.

In fact, she took me to the Oakland Coliseum when I was two years old to see Ozzy... which just so happened to be the live show that was used to make the Tribute to Randy Rhodes album.

So technically you have been immortalized in heavy metal history.

Randy was drumming for Ozzy when I started listening to him. That's pretty cool.

I guess my mom and Randy spent a lot of time together as kids. My grandpa was first cousins with his mom and they would visit often. I wish i had the chance to meet him.

Honestly, he's metal AF but his guitarists are why anyone listens to him. Without Randy Rhoads, I doubt he'd have a career after he left Sabbath. He made Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman happen. Ozzy just showed up to sing.

This is just pure stupidity. Without Ozzy and Dio on vocals, Black Sabbath was basically a non factor in the music scene, and Tony Iommi knew it. To say Ozzy would have never been successful without Randy Rhodes is ludicrous. He's had many different guitarists play for him and never did his sound suffer for it.
Randy Rhodes
Jake E. Lee
Zakk Wylde
Gus G
Brad Gillis (Night Ranger guitarist played on Speak of the Devil)

Fact. Ozzy Solo Career>Black Sabbath with whoever on vocals.

I never thought Ozzy was a great singer technically, Dio ran rings around him in that way, but he had a great sound. I dunno exactly why he worked so well as a singer but he did. Dude sounded demented at times and fit Sabbath so well, "Symptom of the Universe" is one of my faves by him vocally.

Also what I would say is that Ozzy always managed to surround himself with great musicians, I'm sure that helped. And it's hard to deny Randy's influence on his solo career, even just listen to what Ozzy says about how he helped him with melodies, theory etc.

Maybe this is the thread to ask a question about a story that I thought was about Ozzy:

I could have sworn that a few years ago I heard or read that Sharon Osbourne once said in an interview that her and Ozzy managed to stay together all these years because he never screwed around with groupies. The reason being that Sharon went with Ozzy on all his tours and was basically giving him four or more blowjobs a day, to the point that he basically had nothing left in him anymore so he wasn't interested in other girls/women pretty much at all. However, I recently tried looking for a source to this story (I wanted to show it to my wife) and I couldn't find anything at all on Google or anywhere else.

So either:

A) I heard the story from someone that made it up;
2) The story was about some other rockstar and his wife and I can't remember who it was actually about; or
D) I completely made the story up in my head and forgot about it after all these years to the point that I legit thought I had heard this story.

Anyone know??
