Outgunned, outnumbered, but victorious.

Cotmier vs Miocic 2, Cormier looked loke the better fighter but was fighting kinda sloppy IMO but then Miocic adjusted to the body shots and it gave him the win.

That is a tough one. I think Stipe can hold his own against Cormier on paper. Do I rate Cormier more highly technically? Yes. But Stipe always had that dawg in him, had power in his hands and a good wrestler in his own right.

I think Stipe is great in his own right. But oh boy, one of the best in game adjustments ever though

i don't know, maybe it's me, but to me DDP vs Whittaker and Merab vs Umar did not seem like impossible fights to win for DDP or Merab. maybe to the fans opinions they thought it was, but on paper both fights should've favored the eventual winners in my opinion.

Not impossible but unlikely and difficult. It wasn't like Serra vs GSP. That's what I was trying to get at. It wasn't that one human being was infinitely better fighter than the others, but match ups make fights...I guess it's kinda unclear, I guess I can see that, I'm having trying to verbalize the difference between what I'm trying to talk about and what some suggested.

And to win, they have to break these assumptions. Not many thought Umar didn't have three round cardio. And not many thought DDP will ragdoll Whittaker.

That's usually my go to fight when I want someone to watch an MMA fight for the first time.

i thought tyson was going to go on to have a great career...only Guida and Edgar did...

It's been a while but I remember 2 of the last 3 ends being close enough that BJ should've won at least 1 of them.

BTW I saw Frankie vs Tyson live. Tyson annoyed cuz he won a few dubious decisions but that fight with Frankie was god dam amazing. One of my favorites all time... what a fucking knee bar and the grit to not tap!
oh shit a great fight to watch live.

bj got robbed blind frfr.

Watching Frankie's debut in 2006 against Tyson Griffin, I said this guy will be champion. I wasn't old enough to purchase PPV's so missed a lot of his fights at first but after purchasing UFC 98 and saw that he was still winning with only one loss at the time, I knew he was exceptionally tough and would give Sherk trouble which is what happened and then he finished Matt Veach and earned his 4 FOTN award... the writing was on the wall he was going to be a legend. BJ won the first two rounds but Frankie adjusted which is something BJ never did as you just said and won the last 3 on my score card, don't get me wrong, they were highly competitive, but I had Frankie winning.

i never saw Edgar coming, not gonna lie. him winning against Sherk was impressive. i feel like sherk would've tried to wrestle more against bj and edgar, but I digress. But odd though he would just almost give up on it entirely.

but that fight wasn't even competitive imo.

Bigi Boi vs Reem
Every Derrick Lewis win
Reem vs Volkov
Reem vs big Ben
Reem vs Silva
Werdum vs Stipe
Fedor vs Werdum
Mir vs Nog
Shogun vs Machida
Forrest vs Shogun
Serra vs GSP
Forrest vs Rampage

Bigi Boi vs Reem is kinda good one, like Lewis vs Volkov. Reem vs Silva is one of the best fights ever lol. But I guess it's heavyweight so one punch literally can change everything there's that too.

You know, it reminds me Ben subbing Josh has to be up there. It wasn't like a one punch ko, it was insane. Ben koing Reem and subbing Barnett? Shows how crazy MMA can be.

I wish those wins were against Ubereem though...to this day...that thing was a monster...not sure if it was truly vanquished by anything other than usada.

And who thought Forrest would beat both Shogun and Rampage?

I guess even more shocking is Sonnen beat Shogun, Wanderlei and Rampage

I'm a huge BJ fan but I was probably the only person on here saying Frankie would likely win.

It was for 2 reasons. 1 LW looked completely cleaned out. Frankie got the shot after winning an ok fight with sherk (decision).

2. His movement in the sherk fight impressed me even though not much happened. He just seemed so much faster woth the lateral movement and had a good chin. I just couldn't see BJ landing clean since BJ wasn't that good in lateral movement. Plus BJ didn't have the best fight IQ and preferred to stand and want and never adjusted mid fight

That all being said I think BJ should've gotten the nod with it being a close fight

i know right, no way edgar won that. didn't think he had a chance, and he really didnt win that lol

yeah, but does that mean it's actually a difficult fight or that just the general public perceived it as a difficult fight? because those are 2 very different things. Merab didn't look like he had a difficult time beating Umar no matter how close the fight was because Merab was literally showboating for a good amount of the fight, DDP also didn't look like he had difficulty beating Whittaker, evidenced by him destroying him in the 2nd rd. for example, Merab's fight vs Ricky Simon was much more difficult for him than Umar.

the same way many people thought Pereira would walk through Khalil and it would be an easy fight. in reality, it was a difficult fight for Pereira. but we don't still pretend it was an easy fight for him. so why are we pretending Merab and DDP had difficulties beating the guys people thought were hard fights for them? Merab had a close but rather decisive fight, and DDP blew Whittaker away.

Tony Ferguson so many times. Its why we even bother to love the guy. Hope he does OK in the GFL. Hope he can keep it together mentally for life too.

Izzy vs Sean. Thing is Israel looked like he had offnight but after DDP fight we've seen that it wasn't that. Adesanya's prime ended with Pereira rematch and after that he wasn't peak himself and Strickland fought him in perfect time for himself. Mental warfare during press conference helped too.

it's not about how the fight went but how the fight was perceived because hindsight is always 20/20. it's not about ddp manhandling whittaker, but the fact that he was able to do so and WIN in spite of what the match up appeared to say before the fight where he looked outgunned everywhere.

i didn't think about that fight like khali that. if you can send saki to a shadow realm, you can send alex to that remote region of the universe too.

I had Nijem over Tony lol, too bad we never saw khabib fight.

Tony had a hell of a career, hespect

that's a good one lol i think lots of people thought that about that fight.

and no i don't think so but i think sean just had his night.

oh yeah I remember,

I think JJ vs Rose 1 was like that too. It looked like Rose was completely outmatched going up against JJ.

Then left hook from hell sent the polish golum bye bye to seven hells.
