Hollywood is what it is, & has been for awhile. it’s literally a moneymaking system, so profits/profitability will always take precedence. i think American cinema is doing juuuust fine though.

yeah, they’re being made literally all the time.

but if you want someone to blame, make sure you share some of that blame w/ the audiences. audiences need to vote better w/ their wallets tbh. it’s so frustrating when a major blockbuster release is also one of the best movies of the year (Furiosa), but it bombs at the box office.

The Oscars have lacked credibility for years. The fact that Emilia Perez has more nominations than The Godfather is just the final nail in the coffin.

As for Emilia Perez, Hollywood has gone full retard. The movie sucked and there is no debate. Music was awful, characters were unlikeable, and they did a horrible job portraying Mexicans and trans people. Absolute garbage can of a film. Joker 2 was enjoyable compared to this. The Substance, Anora, and Dune 2 were decent films. I also liked Conclave, but it is a WEAK year. I think we are seeing a generation of writers that just aren't as good as they used to be.

Entertainment, there's always a few laughs. I stayed up to watch it when I lived in England which was a pain being 8 hour time difference on a Sunday night. I like the dresses and in recent years Kimmell presenting and Guillermo with the tequila shots all make for a fun evening.
