Media Opening betting odds for recently announced UFC 322 fights

I hope it will be an easy fight for Islam, but everything suggests the contrary, if he wins, it's going to be legendary ! <RomeroSalute>

Just like those Chimaev vs DDP odds? When you have an alltime great grappler, the odds should be comfortably in their favor.

I'm seeing quite a few people who were perplexed by the DDP vs Chimaev odds (and thinking DDP was going to win) confused as to why Islam is favored this much. Khamzat made DDP look like an amateur and I think Islam will do the same with JDM.
I don't think thats an apples to apples comparison for a lot of reasons. Islam isn't nearly as dominant a grappler as Khamzat, who has taken down every opponent in the UFC within a few seconds of the opening bell. Islam is moving up in weight for the first time. And Jack isn't nearly as hapless with defensive grappling as DDP is.

I was not surprised at all by the Khamzat fight. Other than not getting a finish. But I would be very shocked if Islam does something at all similar to Jack. And if he does I'd be hugely impressed.

Fair. I think I probably rate Islam a little more than you might, from what you're saying. You may be right. We'll see how it unfolds.

Jack is a really good scrambler. That said, Islam is on a completely different level with his overall grappling than Belal or even Burns. Gilbert has elite BJJ but Islam getting a TD and Jack working and scrambling up gives Islam real opportunities to advance to dominant positions, Islam is just far beyond even Glibert at MMA adapted grappling in those transitions.

If jack could scramble fine with one broken arm against burns, I think he'll be okay against Islam when he has two healthy arms. Not to mention he was only 26 back then, and he has since had multiple camps with craig jones, and is entering his physical prime. I think Jack looks better each fight, where as we've seen Islam peak already. Islam is the older, and smaller guy here and has an uphill battle. I favor Jack, but only slightly.
