The PS4 controller is also not compatible with the PS5.
With supported PS4 games on PS5 it is

Incorrect. PS4 controller is compatible with PS5 if you are playing PS4 games.
It would seem to be the opposite. The pre-order has already launched, and I pointed out that we still have no word from Sony on the nature of the DS5's compatibility with other platforms. You respond with "what about the PS4 controller?"That's quite a whataboutism you are doing here.
We were talking about how it should be relatively easy to have the PS5 controller connect to all these devices. The PS4 can do it and there are no reasons for me to believe the PS4 can't.
All you've shown to me is multiple ways of charging an xbox controller.
Thanks for trying to convince me your xbox controller is hot shit... It's not hot that's for sure... lol
.The XSX controller is $10 cheaper. Unnecessary inclusions certainly contribute to this. Many people (even those without game consoles) already have rechargeable AA batteries and battery stations.
I believe I'm repeating myself.
I don’t give a shit what you think.Weird that autocorrect didn't autocorrect "auto correct" to a single word. You're not someone whose testimony I trust in these matters.
I think what they cared about most was giving the consumer the choice of how he wants his controller to work.
I think what they cared about second most with the controller was the ability to use the new controllers on the previous console, use the previous console's controllers on the new console, and interchange accessories between the two. Xbox One owners who already have battery doors and AA-battery setups are probably quite happy to have a controller with superior independence from the console, and superior longevity at no additional cost.
A more distant priority was compatibility with other platforms via Bluetooth. Their controller can work with PCs, Macs, iPhones/iPads, or Android out-of-the-box. Still not seeing anything about that for the PS5 controller.
Also, the PS5 controller is $70:

The XSX controller is $60:

So, @method115, I was wrong, with that Rocketfish pack, there is no premium. Sony is already passing on the cost to the customer!
You're missing the point. The point is they keep the new controller price lower by not including rechargeable batteries because some buyers already have rechargeable batteries (including prior Xbox owners) or a stream of consumption of traditional batteries. By including a rechargeable battery they have dictated that choice for those consumers, and its cost. By not including it they have no imposed this choice on the consumer.Cheaper than what, I never once mentioned the price of anything else, can you ever make a point based on the words in the post, many people do have rechargeable batteries but not everyone does.
you're projecting your own subjective habits onto the assessment, sound familiar or is that only applicable when you’re trying to be condescending.
It would seem to be the opposite. The pre-order has already launched, and I pointed out that we still have no word from Sony on the nature of the DS5's compatibility with other platforms. You respond with "what about the PS4 controller?"
I have simply pointed out that the DS4's functionality doesn't guarantee identical functionality as the PS5, nor does it tell us anything about the nature of its pairing (will it require an app? Cable? Adapter?). The reason I pointed out the DS4 isn't compatible with the PS5 was to further highlight the fact that-- unlike the Xbox One controller for the XSX or XSS-- it isn't a viable substitute for the PS5 controller on the new system.
The PS5 controller is more expensive, less versatile in its operability, inferior for sustained wireless play by its greater dependence on the console, and inferior by its lack of backwards compatibility.

Just saw this.

The charge time for the PS4 controller battery from depleted to full is 2 hours.

I'll dumb it down for you:
It works exactly the same as the PS5 if you want it to.

Well some lil pixies must’ve come at night and switched mine with units that last near triple that time.
With batteries ?

No no.......madmick's certain they only last 2 hours !

He didn’t say they last two hours, he said they take two hours to charge.
