- The Xbox Series X and S have been revealed, and are launching later this year on November 10, 2020.
- Microsoft is launching their own accessories, and partnering with third-party companies through their Designed for Xbox program.
- PowerA is one of these companies, and has unveiled their line-up of accessories for the next-gen Xbox's.
- The line-up includes new controllers, rechargeable battery packs, and charging stands for your Xbox controllers.
Goddamn, Microsoft is on top of third-party accessory deals right out the gate, too? Apart from the pre-order debacle they've been on their A-game at every stage. PowerA is a big name in this game. They make the bestselling dual-analog controllers for Android phones. They've also made controllers with extra-large batteries for consoles.

Ugh, Xbox Series X controllers are using AA batteries? God I hate Xbox. I got lucky and put in a preorder in for my niece. Now I have to buy batteries just in case my sister has none in her house on Xmas. How the fuck are we still using AA batteries on video game controllers? I'm surprised Xbox controllers are wireless.
I remember for my 360 buying the rechargeable battery packs, but even those were inferior to the PS3 controllers as they seemingly died, or at least couldn’t hold any charge whatsoever, after about a year and then you would have to leave them plugged into the machine at all times in order to use them. I went through about 3 or so iirc.
LOL, this is the master race controller. It can do either.Ugh, Xbox Series X controllers are using AA batteries? God I hate Xbox. I got lucky and put in a preorder in for my niece. The upgraded Xbox wireless controller...will be available bundled with either a Windows 10 wireless adapter or a USB-C cable, and new controllers will go for $59.99, just like the current lineup. You can learn more about the Xbox Series X controller in this breakdown from March, which goes into everything from improved material textures to expanded functionality.
Speaking of USB-C: the next-gen Xbox controller has its own rechargeable battery using the same cable, and Microsoft reckons it can be fully charged in four hours. The battery will be sold separately for $24.99, and both it and the new controllers will be released alongside the Series X and Series S on November 10.
Cross-compatibility
Cross-compatibility is a big factor in Xbox's shift to next-gen, and Whitaker states that there will be support for cross-compatibility between Xbox Series X and Xbox One controllers and consoles:
"They all work together with the same great Xbox Wireless Radio. Gamers can also play on more devices including PC, Android, and iOS. We’re implementing Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) so that pairing to these devices is much easier. The new controller also remembers multiple devices so switching between them is more seamless. And a USB-C port allows gamers to play and charge with a modern cable that’s more readily available."
I've used the same two rechargeable batteries and a charger for like four years now.
LOL, this is the master race controller. It can do either.
It can run off AA batteries, it can run off a USB-C rechargeable lithium battery, and it can run off third party rechargeable AA-battery bays like I showed above that are recharged using a USB cable. Of course one may also opt for traditional rechargeable AA battery docks and stations that plug directly into power outlets.

Oh yeah, it can also effortlessly pair with PCs, iPhones/iPads, or Android devices both wirelessly or via the universal master race USB-C port.

I find it funny the Xbox itself doesn't have usb-c, but you can connect the controller to other devices with usb-c.LOL, this is the master race controller. It can do either.

Wait until one of these goes on sale and man...
It's awesome. I always have charged batteries and I just swap them out in about 6 seconds.

I find it funny you've never heard of a USB-A to USB-C cord.I find it funny the Xbox itself doesn't have usb-c, but you can connect the controller to other devices with usb-c.
Same. I have something similar. I have like 8 AAA and like 16 AA's that I can rotate through my gadgets. I don't think people realize that the battery set up for the Xbox controllers is a way better option than having a controller that you have to plug in when it dies out.
swap batteries...?! how quaint...
how is that better than plugging in the controller to a wire that's already attached to the PS4 and then hit the power button on the 2nd controller and continue on? It takes no time to do that too... all i do is hot swap my controllers. it's effortless.
swapping batteries??? i do that for my tv/cable remotes that's annoying enough once every year or so... :/
It's better because for those in a couch environment you don't have to keep the controller plugged in to keep it charged. Otherwise, to play wirelessly, once the controller's battery dies, you have to to connect it to the console in order to charge it, and wait until it's charged to play wirelessly again. A lot of PS4 players complained about this over the course of the console's life. The controller was known for poor battery life. Conversely, batteries can be easily swapped, so you can continue gaming wirelessly in perpetuity.swap batteries...?! how quaint...
