Wow!!
Didn't knew that Daly was so good on the ground.

Also she used to fight @ FLW for a life ... I remember her more for her weird footwork and the record with a W against Jessica Eye.

Yeah. A number of flyweights tried out. Daly went down to strawweight after she lost in Invicta. She has always been very solid on the ground.

She said in a recent interview that she hadn't been in a good mental place the past two years and finally started working on her issues and is back to feeling good. She feels she will do very well and improve her game.

From the reports out of TUF 20 on grappling she appears to be on the right track.

I didn't follow but, wasn't invicta suppose to have big news over the weekend what was it?

and with Claudia out I see jojo, Carla and maybe Torres having serious chance to win this. I think Carla is most advantages in this format she isn't big or small so weight cut isn't issue and being a strong wrestler can dictate where the fight take place so don't need to adjust to each opponent as much while real coaches are away.
Did Pene try for tuf 20 didn't see her interview?

is jojo ready? will she have trouble with the weight cut. (she is one of the bigger 115er right)

anyways rooting for her and hope she wins!

She's training hard. We have changed some stuff up in regards to her diet and have brought a nutritionist/chef on board to help out. She's super focused as normal.

She will be good to go when she fly's out

Thanks for the support man, Joanne's a bit over whelmed by the support she's getting.

Regarding Ais Dalys grappling it's very good she's been purple belt under Super coach John Kavanagh (coach of Connor mcgregor and gunni Nelson) for a while

Great to hear that, I know the show comes out later this year but when does the actual fighting start? I'm super excited for this tuf(most excited for this tuf actually even more than chael vs wandy drama) Besides the fights even interested in the drama for this season lol. Which team does she hope to be on, Pettis team maybe to learn the showtime kick? Btw do you guys get to coach her at all or like all communication cut off?

she sounds good in her recent interviews, very confident. that's some good grappling company to keep indeed.

Of the known participants Joanne, Carla, and Torres are amongst the most likely winners with Namajunas a decent fourth wheel dark horse.

Namajunas is way to skinny for 115, no chance of winning this at all. This Thridpres guy is showing his lack of MMA knowledge again.

Seriously though, I wan't Rose at 105 where she should be.

No chance. As long as UFC only has a 115 weight class, Rose isn't moving down for anything. She has a chance to greatly increase her brand and become one of the most popular female fighters in UFC. She just needed the bigger platform.

On April 14th, 2014 at 4:05 PM Invicta FC ( @InvictaFights ) retweeted this tweet.

April 14th was a Monday, so the announcement should have come sometime between April 19th and April 27th, depending on what day of the week "next week" started on.

They had until 11:59pm on Saturday, April 26th to make good on the announcement of an anouncement.

From now on, Invicta should only make announcements, not announcements of announcements. Since IFC 5, Shannon Knapp, several times has said certain things were coming and never followed thru.

This suck for the fans, but it's even worse for the fighters to stay active. That was about Invicta was all about and they are not doing so well at that. Several women signed with Invicta have been taking fights in other organizations.

By checking out some of the Tuf video, I can't get over how big some of those girls look compared to Markos. I have heard that Randa walks around 130lbs from following her career and seemed to be much smaller in video compared to others. I know you have a lot of flyweights lookin to fight at straweight. But not knowing or thinking you can drop another 10lbs won't be as easy as these lady's think. Especially since it was rumored that these girls could be starting casting a few weeks later from the tryouts.

As far as the Grappling part goes, we don't know who these girls were matched up with or how many girls they got to roll. Just wonder how credible all the girls were that showed up. Did they match top girls with top girls? Daly did sound impressive though.

she does hold a win over emily kagan and a close decision loss to tecia, so she should be able to hold her own and maybe pick up a w or two in the house. i guess it depends on who she is matched against.

if she is winning by flying armbar each match, the skinny won't matter!:icon_chee

Wow, no need for personal attacks. Thirdpres has the right to his opinion and besides--he's probably seen more WMMA fights than anyone on this board... combined.

Personally, I like Penne a little more as a dark horse. Especially since she seems to have bulked up for that class. This is how I would group the women:

Most likely to win:
JoJo Calderwood
Carla Esparza
Tecia Torres

Dark horses:
Jessica Penne
Rose Namajunas

Good fighters who need things to fall their way:
Bec Rawlings
Felice Herrig

Outsiders with a long shot:
Ais Daily
Michelle Ould
Nina Ansaroff

How would you guys fill out this list?

Rose went to a close decision with one of the stronger girls in the division, and had her in trouble at points. I think she'll be ok. Her body type has as many strengths as it does weaknesses.

I think Esparza has lots of advantages. Lots of the girls still train with the coach/gym they first started with; while Esparza has been gym hopping for years, and will have her main training partner there with her. Her & Felice know how to essentially train themselves.

Interesting change up in this event.

Amy Monetengro's fight with Rosa Acevado is off, replaced by Corso's pro debut against House.

Decent chance Monetengro may have gotten herself into TUF 20. This fight would have been Montenegro's debut at 115, although her last fight was at 120 as she was preparing herself to go down to that weight.

5-16 Intense Cage Fighting 13:
105 Liz McCarthy (1-1-0) US vs. Cassie Robb (0-1-0) US
115?Emily Corso (0-0-0) US vs. Lynnell House (2-1-0) CA
//115 Amy Cadwell-Montenegro (3-0-0) US vs. Rosa Acevedo (1-1-0) US
125 Katie Howard (2-1-0) US vs. Robin Woods (0-0-0) US

- It'll be interesting to see how this fight goes: Emily Corso (0-0-0) US vs. Lynnell House (2-1-0) CA. House has established herself as a solid fighter. Corso has a good ammy record but fighting at heavier weights, all 5 ammy wins by submission twice against Katie Howard.

5-26 KOTC: Alliance
125 Jenny Liou (2-0-0) US vs. Jocelyn Lybarger (3-1-0) US
125 Jillian Lybarger (0-1-0) US vs. Danielle Taylor (1-0-0) US

Jillian Lybarger now has an opponent for this event, all four of these fighters, of course, tried out for TUF 20. Checking around and looking for commonalities I see that one site has Liou vs. Lybarger off this event.

Note: The weights shown are subject to change due to the possibility they are looking to fight further at 115lbs.

Martial Arts Talk: Exclusive Interview with Elaina Maxwell

Back in late 2012, I had the opportunity to talk to MMA fighter Elaina Maxwell. As one of the toughest women on the planet, Maxwell has an array of experience in women's mixed martial arts, as she has quite a few fights under her belt.

Recently, I caught up with her again. Only this time we talk about training, the UFC, and Gina Carano. Elaina also answers some questions from her fans. Here is what Elaina had to say...

Yep.

I have only looked a little bit at Jocelyn Lybarger to try to get a sense of what she is actually doing. I am not sure I want to spend too much time looking but I suspect information will come out on whether that fight is happening within the week.

There's too much other stuff to keep an eye on and that fight will or won't happen. No point in spending time on something that will get out eventually anyways.

I haven't wanted to go into a breakdown on TUF 20 fighters until we actually know for sure who makes it in and under what circumstances.

I have been considering finishing rates in addition to the weight, mental toughness, and possible match ups and how they favor fighters. If you have the capabilities to finish a fighter quickly the odds to not suffering an injury or wearing yourself fall in your favor.

Example: 2 minutes to finish and defeat your opponent and move on will take less out of you than 10 minutes to get the win. In a compressed time frame for multiple fights the former fighter has an advantage over the later.*

It is just something to think about.

* I know people know this but I wanted to illustrate the point with a simple example.

Ooops. I thought the absolute inanity of the statement and the "seriously, though.." was clue enough it was a joke. Sorry. I suck at the internet.

I'd move Emily Kegan and Ais Daily into the Dark Horse spot
and drop Rose and Penne off the list. Namajunas got lucky against Kegan.
Penne and Namajunas are tiny and will get broken.

(I might be drinking a lot right now)
