Multiplat Official Witcher 4 Discussion (2027)

Honestly i found characters in b&w not as interesting

Regis is cool, detclaff you almost never interact with and the high born lady is so boring i cant remember her name.

Hearts of stone has olgierd whos one of best side characters in game, gaunter and shani of course

Gameplay and quest design wise B&W is probably better but i still prefer HOS lol
I think both are fine, but just different. Mainly in content on offer. I usually hear people like the HoS story more, but I think that's mostly because that's really all there is to the DLC. It's basically one big mission with not much to distract you. It's a tidy 5-10 hours. B&W on the other hand, is basically a new game with a whole new open world to explore.

As someone who has read the books and loved seeing Regis and Anna in B&W I definitely liked HoS more. Shani is the best girl, Gaunter is the most interesting character added to the games and I really hope he makes a return in Witcher 4, and I really enjoyed Olgierd's character. I guess I'm just a bigger fan of a shorter more densely packed story with great characters and writing.

The Painting questline was some of the best story telling in the series if not the best. It was so good

As predicted.

I've played Witcher3 enough to know exactly what Ciri looked like and her appearance was consistent throughout the game.

The Witcher4 trailer... at first glance I thought 'Wait, that's Ciri?' The scar on her left cheek was the only indication she was. I suspected the trailer must take place 10+ years after Witcher3 but it's now confirmed Witcher4 takes place only a few years later.

As long as they made the changes and its consistent for now on, that's fine. CDPR didn't make a public admittion of changing Geralt's appearances between the games or even between the Witcher3 trailers and the final game.

They don't have to admit it, as long as they stick with it.

Well well well...

They won't admit it, and at the most would imply it was the angles, lighting, and expressions, but there's no question Ciri is now looking significantly closer to how she was in Witcher3.

I notice a difference, for the better, but I was never worried about how she'd look in game. Geralt was always vastly different in CGI teasers compared to his in game model.

This game has a long way to go yet. Considering the massive woke trash flops across entertainment, I don't see this veering towards Veilguard-like territory at all.
Hearts of stone was better than blood and wine

Come at me

Also thinking now letho would have made great new main character
They are so different it's hard to compare, but on my first playthrough I found HOS far more impactful as a narrative. It's peak CDPR writing. It stuck with me for a long time.

It's a classic tragedy with one of the best villains ever. Gaunter was legit terrifying, and that epic entrance never gets old.

I think it's better as a one off though, as it's basically one big branching extra quest. B&W is pretty much a fully fledged game.

I don't think we'll ever get so much punch for our dollar, as we did with those DLC's, in gaming again.

I've been of the opinion that some of the 'woke' hires at CDPR have been concerning, but the captains of the ships for Witcher3 & CP2077 are the same as for Witcher4.

Didn't detect any distracting 'woke' elements in Phantom Liberty, and by that time the entire industry was infested with activists in development teams.

In other words, I'm not suggesting the CDPR decision-makers are 'based' but I do get the feeling they're not tolerant of activism of extremist political philosophies in their games.

Not that hyped since I heard you’re gonna play as Ciri.

I would have loved to create my own Witcher instead.

Butchers of Blaviken,

CDPR this week confirms W4 will launch after 2026.

With that, I've updated title for tentative launch window of 2027.

Daddy need a potion for patience, looks like, lol.

The good thing about the long dev cycles for Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk sequel, is that we're sure to get more content for both of these franchises to appease inventors, and keep fan engagement.

We know a Witcher 1 is being remade already, so Cyberpunk will likely be the biggest beneficiary of something new, as a new anime is all but confirmed and the devs teased more game content coming for CP 2077. I'm so glad they reneged on CP being done after PL's patches.

I really hope they release full mod tools, and bring mods to consoles. Despite the limited tool sets, there are already game changing mods available, but so much more is possible with a proper tool kit.

I doubt they'll touch Witcher 3, but Cyberpunk on the Red Engine has a lot of legs left, and tons of real estate to expand on around Night City. What modders have done alone is remarkable.

That looks so damn good, and promising for future UE5 games.

I was hoping the partnership with CDPR and Unreal/Epic would bring much needed improvements to UE5. I'm more excited for the Cyberpunk sequel, and have been concerned with the UE5 jump.

I was blown away by Lords of the Fallen, a legit visual feast. With competent artists and visionaries at the helm, the potential is there for jaw dropping experiences, but the performance has been ass. Even in LOTF's improved state, the performance is still a hinderance. That goes for every damn UE5 game I've played.

This is a controlled tech demo, so I'll remain skeptical, but it at least sounds like big improvements are on the way for the engine. I especially like hearing a targeted 60 FPS framerate on base PS5's. It's about time we start seeing serious optimization talks around current gen games. It's been a shitshow in that dept!

That's a cool 'tech demo'.... Like the CP2077 E32018 demo was supposedly a representation of the game as it currently was in development.

But I'm very skeptical that 'tech demo' was really running on a base PS5.

Reminds me of the promise of CP2077 would run on the PS4 & X one to the quality of the E32018 demo.

CDPR apperantly said its not gameplay, just created for engine showcase
