Multiplat Official Witcher 4 Discussion (2027)

I actually just finished book 7 of the Witcher series. I enjoyed the story. Only played Wild Hunt and it was a solid game.

Btw gotta say witcher 2 nailed geralds apperance

Gerald was a bit too handsome in W3, hes not ugly but should be a bit "inhumane" or off putting looking.

Two weeks later I've checked out numerous detailed impressions from Witcher-fanboys/girls, and one that has been the most quiet is the one who's made hundreds of videos about the Witcher series.

Well thought out impressions.

This reminds me of a question I've occasionally asked myself, and I haven't formed an answer.

That '...I'd rather not choose one at all' line is iconic, but its not representative of Geralt as a character from what I understand.

Geralt is making moral choices between 'degrees of evil' especially in the games, as what he would say 'one evil over the other' but most would clearly see a good or bad choice.

For example... Whoreson Junior... who the hell left him alive in Witcher3? He was a psychopath serial murderer, was a threat to Ciri, and even when you track him down there's a dozen dead prostitutes littered around. The 'greater evil' clearly would be letting him live to commit more murder, and it's quite ironic the idea of Geralt would spare him immediately after killing a dozen of his guards to get to Whoreson.

So I'm not a big fan of this tweet, implying Ciri is different... an perhaps better... than Geralt by saying she will always chose one evil over the other... when they are in fact the same in that respect.

Yeah I also find it offensive that they’re telling us what Ciri chooses. What makes the Witcher games great is the morally grey choices and the fact that you the player make them. Hopefully that was just a poorly thought out tweet

So many people talking about playing as a female and not how this game will most likely be a broken mess on release. This feels like a game you wait a few years to play

Agreed, but in the books and the W3 Ciri makes much more predictable choices than Geralt, she is a more straightforward character.

Been playing Witcher3 and am currently at Kher Morhen.

Geralt, Yennefer, and the other two witchers are drinking at the table & discussing what their plans are for Uma. Yennefer mentions her plans to subject him to 'the first half of the trails of the grasses.'

If she knows the first half, then she probably knows the second half, or it still well-known within circles of sorceresses... there just hasn't been an organized effort to make a new Witcher school.

His only sin is not allowing Judy Alvarez to switch teams.

Judy is a horrible person though. Well written character, but a cunt of monumental proportions.

Could be said Panam is an overemotional child at the beginning of her arc in CP2077, she opens up to V far too quickly, and the Avacados-portion of the game is the one part that could be described as 'poorly written.'

But that is usually overlooked because the Avacados give V the one 'Happy Conclusion' for the game, and the vast majority of heterosexual gamers would be attracted to Panam and would want to nail her.

She's perfect for a fling... reminds me of some girls I hooked up with at festivals

Panam is and always will be bae...

While we are on the topic, Triss was the choice to make in Witcher 3.

In this pic here she looks like she can't get Geralt out from underneath her skin...

BACK ON TOPIC glad the Narrative Director is still on board. He clearly has talent and is one of the best in this medium. I'd put him above Kojima TBH.

Case-in-point.

There's no wrong choice between her and Yen.

There's positives & negatives for both.

Comparing him to post-MGS4-Kojima isn't high praise.

So I'm at the tail-end for the base game, and while I've been playing through it my faith that Witcher4 is going to be awesome has skyrocketed.

Keep in mind Witcher3 was developed from 2011-15, then the DLC up to 2016, all when CDPR had a maximum of 250 people within their team.

In the 12 years between W3 & W4, CDPR will have made CP2077 & Phantom Liberty, grown in size to 600+, switching over to UE5, and there's no question they've played games like Red Dead Redemption 2 & Monster Hunter and got inspired.

And they've got alot on the drawing board from W3's development cycle but couldn't fit it all in.

My #1 issue I hope they fix... the economy.
Its absolutely ridiculous Witcher Contracts pay so low, while the main source of big income is fencing swords and armor to blacksmiths.... to the point you're sailing across Skellige and diving for loot in chests hanging from barrels on the ocean surface. Who the fuck designed this?
Oh, and you can only win 10 crowns through Gwent.

#2 issue... the gameplay... while I don't complain about it as much as some... it clearly has its issues, like I can count on my hands the times I've ever used a Strong Attack, Bombs in Combat, the crossbow to anything that isn't flying or swimming... and I've never used a concoction (sp?).

#3 issue.... the traversal of the world.
The horseback riding, running, jumping, and climbing... all feel cheap.
Especially the horseback riding.
Bet they're designing the game around it rather than adding it in in the final months of development (W3).

#4 issue... leveling up is painfully slow. The slowest I've ever seen in a single-player game.
Again the Witcher Contracts barely give any XP, while having conversations related to the main storyline give MASSIVE XP. Running around Nivograd with hardly any battles leveled me up a few times felt ridiculous, while it took me a dozen Witcher Contracts to level up once. Completely imbalanced.
Really hope the fix this for W4 so its somewhere closer to CP2077.

Kojima lost the plot during MGS2 imo

Anyway I named him because there aren't a whole lot of high profile story/narrative game directors for video games out there. Kojima is probably the biggest name out there, or at least he was one of the first recognizable names in the medium.

But how many other guys are there the average gamer has heard of? Cory Balrog? Neil Druckman? I had actually never heard of this guy from CD Projekt Red....

Where Peter Molyneux fine ass at with his open world god game with ai controlled sentience?

If you're looking for a build to make Death March easy, I highly endorce this video.

At the very start of the game you can only cast a sign every 10 seconds.

With this build, you'll be able to blast Igni, use Quen & Yrden each twice, and takes a second and a half for your meter to build back up to use them again.

Perfect offense - Igni.
Perfect defense - Quen.
Perfect offense & defense - Yrden.

Basically makes the vast majority of all combat encounters a joke.
