No Spoilers Official The Callisto Protocol Discussion [PS/PC/Xbox]

I have no idea why people are bitching about the gameplay. I'm about halfway through (I think) and it's been awesome.

"learning curve too steep"
"combat too simple"

Pick one

It just looks like Lords of the Fallen or The Surge style combat. Unfun and clunky. The Skill Up review basically shredded and spoiled the entire game and convinced me it's not worth $70

I was able to give this and Need for Speed Unbound a try last night. The combat isn't as bad as reviews are saying, I thought it was going to be super stiff but it's not that bad, it's not what I'd prefer but since that's just a preference I won't knock it for that, changing weapons is where it needs work. Might have to pick this up now once I clear another game or 2 out of my physical copy backlog.

I didn't/don't have plans of playing the game, but I'm having a blast watching dr.disrespect playing the game. First time I watch someone playing through a single player game I never played.

My biggest gripe is having to keep the menu open while listening to the audiologs.

Ouch.

SkillUp seems to be one of the most forgiving reviewers on YouTube, but even he gives it a 'Do Not Recommend.'

Well I’m playing Sonic frontiers now and having a blast and he didn’t like that one at all. If you like a certain genre sometimes it’s worth taking a chance. I did with Sonic because I love the character.

That's one thing about these professional reviewers - They play everything so they have a spoiled perspective.

Not knocking it, but its hard to make a recommendation saying 'If you like Sonic you'll have a blast.'

Think I'll be waiting for a price drop before I get this.

Still have loads to do in Ragnarok then I'm gonna get back into Bannerlord afterwards.

This game has bummed me out. The graphics, atmosphere, and sound design are outstanding, but boy does the combat suck major ass. The shitty "dodge/block" mechanic in particular feels like it fell right out of the early 2000s. The level design is also disappointingly straight-forward, and the story and characters have been really underwhelming. Maybe it'll get better near the end... I hope so, but I'm not about to hold my breath.

On the bright side, the Dead Space remake is right around the corner and should be leagues better than this dud.

A lot of the reasons he didn't like Sonic Frontiers were justified though, like the camera being TERRIBLE when he'd be attacking a boss, or assets not popping in until they were right in front of him. If that happened to me i'd struggle to like a game too.

I'm very much taking my time with this. I got killed like 8 times in the showers in the infirmary. My only gripe so far is that you have from checkpoint to checkpoint in terms of saving.

Was it saving before or after you'd dropped the soap?

Basically I got to the air vent and then realised I had places I hadn't explored yet and every time they ran a train on me in their, it kept taking me back to the warden hologram...was brutal

Doc is making the game look enjoyable. Wonder if the reviewers didn't give it a fair shake. Or Doc is a paid shill lol

I read thru like 4 or 5 pages and no one mentioned the plot of the game yet. Is it any good?

I can play a game like this if the story is interesting

I completed it and probably won't touch it again. It was not fun and the story is average at best.
